Hi and welcome to Hitched! I'm 9 miles from Leeds so if you need any help, just shout. Venue wise, there are lots of golf clubs and cricket clubs in the area who will allow outside catering. I can recommend a few people and places who may be able to help you:-

Dresses - Amazing Brides in Wakefield - fantastic selection at brill prices. Also www.limelightoccasions.co.uk in Lepton Nr Huddersfield. Both of these do menswear hire too.

Cakes - Try Julie at Cakes and Cards in Dewsbury and Sarah's Celebration cakes in Mirfield.

    Cars - Yorkshire Wedding Cars

    Hope that helps.

Yes, your right - I am! I used to have a shop years ago but now I specialise just in artificial flowers but if you want fresh flowers, I can recommend someone for that too - got lots of friends in the trade. I do cover Leeds though if you decide on artificial.

If you decide you would like to go for fresh, try www.andreabenn.co.uk She can work to a budget and is a top florist in the area. In fact, she teaches floristry and taught me many, many moons ago when I was training at college. I'm not allowed to post my details on here because I don't advertise with Hitched anymore but you can find me on Google easy enough. I'm in Dewsbury which is just South of Leeds. Hope that helps. When I got married 5 years ago, we did it all for approx £3500 & that included 2 weeks in florida for the 2 of us (naughty me left my son at home with my mum & dad - he was 8 at the time)

We had a civil ceremony & had the whole thing in the hotel, day & night do.

You can save ££££ if you are either crafty & can make things yourself or have frinds/relatives that can help.

The one thing I would say though, DONT SCRIMP on the photographer. We went for a cheaper option with ours & dont have any nice pics of our big day. Its something that still upsets me now. She was a complete nightmare & I would NEVER recommend her

I do however know of a fabulous photographer if you are after "repotage" style photgraphy - he has done a few of my brides photos this year & they are gorgeous images.

For dresses you might want to try Kirkstall Wedding Warehouse (I'm not sure that's the exact name but if you google it it should come up - actually it might be Abbey wedding warehouse but it's in Kirkstall). Anyway, they have lots of designer samples and stuff and are meant to be very reasonable.

Self catering is difficult. You could try Victoria Hall in Saltaire (between Leeds and Bradford) - it's a fabulous venue and they have contacts for some v cheap caterers, but I think venue hire might be on the expensive side - you'd have to contact them really I guess.

Have you thought about Leeds registry office then a city centre hotel or restaurant? The registry office is in the Town Hall and it's a gorgeous building.

I went to my brother inlaws wedding at leeds town hall a few years ago & totally agree that the building is gorgeous.

I found it to be a bit of a "conveyor belt" type place though. When we arrived for his wedding, there was a couple just leaving & my brother in laws ceremony was so short, then we were ushered out for the next wedding taking place, I just found it a bit too rushed

Debbie I totally agree, that's what put us off too. It's such a shame because it's a lovely place. Thing is, unless budget is really tight, who wants to be stood on the steps having their photos with three other brides?

Mid-week would work better there than a Saturday as it'd be less busy.
