Wedding party - when did you ask?

Hey lovely folks!

So I only got engaged at Christmas and plan to have a destination wedding. Due to covid we more than likely won't get to see any wedding destinations this year and I'd like a long engagement so probably be Sept 2023 or May 2024.

I know who I want by my side on the day - is it too soon to ask them? Bearing in mind my other half probably won't be asking his party until MUCH closer to the time.
When did you ask yours?
Any advice is much appreciated!

Congratulations on your engagement.
I asked my bridal party within 2 weeks of getting engaged (that was the fastest I could see them in person) and I knew even before getting engaged they would be. I was my MOH MOH- she asked me the day she got engaged even though they didn’t get married for another 5 years.

My fiancé took the laid back approach then in the end couldn’t be bothered and just asked his brother.
If you feel confident in your picks then go ahead and ask. If you are even 0.000001% unsure then wait until closer to the time. No one would care not to be asked until a year before your wedding but rescinding the ask or being upset about your choices would be far from ideal.
