Wedding Photographer and Photobooth at wedding reception

kirsty_stutely, 15 September, 2016 at 09:32 Posted on Planning 0 5

So our wedding photographer is going to be at our wedding for the reception doing nice candid shots, and he will be there all night, as well as during the day!

I also however love the idea of photo booths, having been to some events where a photo booth has been, and it has gone down very well.

Has anyone ever had both before? I don't want it to be a waste of money, but both are very different photos. I am a girl who loves lots of photos though! Would I be stupid to have both?

I am the same as you and love photos- so I am having both a wedding photographer and photobooth. I don't think it is a stupid idea at all. I think it is quite common actually but, even if it wasn't who cares? It is your big day (and your partner's) so do whatever you want and enjoy!

The wedding photographer will capture very different styles photos to a photobooth - so the two will complement each other nicely. if you are having a guest book service with the booth then you will have that as an extra bonus too! Also, guests love to have instant prints - it is a nice "takeaway" from the big day. :-)

Yep not uncommon and as has been said very very different style and results, unless you can take the booth across the lake at night and light you from behind capturing your reflection in the lake whilst getting the moon rising over the trees. You get the idea !.

I am not a booth but as well as the dramatic shots I do also mingle and get some candid ones too but still not the same as a booth.

I think boothes are great fun and I would recommend them but not as a replacement for a professional photographer - have both and you will get instant fun from the booth prints and enticement waiting for the pro shots.

I think having both is a good idea Smiley smile as people have said above they capture two different styles of photographs. Plus with having a photo booth your guests will have a picture to take home with them!

I haven't been to a wedding where there was a photo booth but we always have one at our work christmas party. We were all crying with laughter at some of the pictures coming out!

We're having 2 photographers and a photobooth - hadn't really given it a second thought!!

Not everyone gets captured by the photographer, but we have enjoyed photobooths at other Weddings so we thought it'd be a fun opportunity for people at ours Smiley smile

Plus, while candid shots are lovely, you can't beat drunk people and props Smiley winking

It's a completely different service and they complement each other quite well. If there's a photobooth it means I can spend more time on the dancefloor! I take a lot of action shots on the dancefloor.

At some weddings I run a pop-up studio (similar to photobooth) as well. I think if you've got the funds to book both then do it. Make sure you book a provider with loads of props though. They end up all over the place!
