Wedding planner/coordinator/stylist totally ignoring me

HappyPurpleDiamonds9210, 22 July, 2019 at 15:11 Posted on Planning 0 2

Hi all,

I am totally at my wits end and really don't know what to do.

We've hired a wedding coordinator/venue stylist for our wedding on 17 August 2019. Initially the service from her was good and she was responsive and helpful. That contact has gradually declined to the point where my emails go unanswered for 2-3 months at a time. I am in no way bombarding her and recognise that we have not hired her for her full planning service - the bulk of organising we have done ourselves. But she has promised mood boards, conversations with and coordination of suppliers and to be at the end of a phone/email at all times - non of which have materialised. I have included what was outlined in her contract to us at the bottom of this post. She won't respond to my emails, phone calls or texts and with less than three weeks away from the wedding I shave no idea what styling/dressing she has organised, what I should be budgetting for this and what I should be sourcing myself. I last heard from her on 3 July - a bit of a holding reply to say she was working on pulling stuff together, I just would have thought I'd have a better idea of how things will look by now. Perhaps I've misunderstood?

HELP

Amy xx

Wording from agreement:

  • - We’ll have an initial meeting, where I’ll work with you on a mood board, creating a perfect overarching design for the entire day. We’ll also take a look at the ideas you already have, and work out best how to use them to create a wedding design which looks balanced and stylish. We’ll look at all the elements of the day, including things such as stationery, the décor in the tipi, and ceremony design.

  • - After this, I’ll attend any necessary design-related supplier meetings with you (such as with your florist), and will liaise with both in relation to the design of your wedding. I will also liaise with your chosen tipi supplier about dressings, layout and furniture.

  • - In addition, we’ll keep in touch via email whenever required, and we’ll also have two “in person” meetings, which can happen whenever it would be useful to do so!

  • - I’ll work tirelessly to source the perfect mix of props, lighting and décor items from trusted wedding suppliers and retailers to make your design come to life. Please note, my fee does not include the hire or purchase of any props or decorative items. I do have a few items (simple glass tealight holders and small lanterns for example), which you’re welcome to borrow free of charge though!

  • - I will undertake the styling and set-up of the wedding on the 16th and 17th August 2019, and will be a point of contact for any deliveries during these times.

  • - If you do have any queries about your wedding styling, April will be available via phone or email during the time leading up to your wedding day to answer any queries.

    Hi there,

I'm so sorry to read this, you definitely don't need this stress 3 weeks before your wedding!

To be honest, the fact that she hasn't done any of the other things that she promised in the run up doesn't fill me with confidence, I'd say you already have grounds to get back your money paid so far.

Have you checked that she is still operating? Check her facebook and instagram pages (if she has them) for any recent activity, and have a look on Companies House: https://www.gov.uk/government/organisations/companies-house to find out if she is a registered business.

Also, have a look on Facebook Wedding Scammers groups to see if she is listed on there.

Failing that, I would send her an email, text and call (leaving a voicemail if she doesn't answer) giving her 24 hours to respond, or you will be requesting a full refund of everything paid so far, and going to Trading Standards.

Did you pay by credit card? If so, you should be able to get your money refunded.

Where are you based? I'm near Bristol & Bath, and if you're local and need a hand, I'd be happy to help!

    Good luck! X
