Wedding planners/celebrants

Melissa, 15 January, 2023 at 12:35 Posted on Planning 0 5
What are people’s thoughts on hiring a wedding planner or a celebrant? I don’t know if this is something I should consider or is it things that we can do ourselves to save a bit of money…

Just to clarify. A celebrant is someone who would conduct the ceremony and only in England at least- the marriage would not be legally recognised so you have to do the legal paperwork at a register office. Many people do this so they can have their ceremony wherever they want.

Out of over 1000 weddings I have only shot one wedding here in the midlands that used a planner and as the couple chose myself and not the "approved" planners choice I did not have any contact with the planner and dealt direct with the couple with all photography pre planning.

It might be a master of ceremony or toastmaster that you’re thinking of rather than a celebrant? They can be useful in making sure the day sticks to the itinerary.
Planners are useful if you have a tight schedule and lots going on, but if you’re not having a crazy day then I’d check what the venue can help you with before you decide if you want to spend extra money.
I work at a dry hire wedding venue and we can usually recommend whether a couple needs a planner based on what they want to get out of the day, so I’m sure the staff at your venue will be able to do the same

A wedding planner helps clients plan either their entire wedding or particular wedding-related events. They can offer vendor lists or represent clients in vendor contract negotiations. They can be the couple's voice, help determine the wedding's budget, and establish the schedule for the big day. While celebrant is a person who officiates at a religious or civil ceremony or rite, especially a wedding.

I think it depends on how organized and well-prepared you are for the wedding. If you are organized and capable of managing things on your own, it is acceptable; however, some people aren't, and they would rather have a third party person keep them on track.

Having a wedding planner is something I would strongly suggest. They can look over the vendors, make sure everything goes according to plan on your wedding day In addition to saving you time and money, they are more educated about wedding planning and decoration due to their higher industry expertise. Hiring a wedding planner or a celebrant can be a total game-changer, no doubt! They've got the skills, connections, and experience to make your special day an absolute banger. Sure, you can go the DIY route to save some cash, but having a pro by your side can take off a whole lotta stress and ensure everything goes smoothly. It's totally worth considering, my friend!
