Have any of you been struggling with wedding planning checklist?

I found it to be endless process to begin with.

What challenges have faced so far and how did you overcome it?

I have ticked off the things I've done, or deleted the things I am not doing. It has made it a lot more manageable. I've got a lot of things sorted or planned already, even though I've got about 17 months to go.
I am still fretting about my flowers (artificial, or paper ones?) and the colour of my dress (not sure it'll go with the coat material), and what about the bridesmaids dresses (I like one colour, my mam doesn't... I know it's up to me at the end of the day, but I value her opinion)... etc. We aren't even going to mention the venue dressing!
I am trying to remember it's only one day though, and it won't all run exactly how I've envisaged. There will be hiccups, but I will overcome them and just have fun. Good luck, and try not to let it overwhelm you. Take a break and think about something else for a bit, or indulge in a joyful fantasy of how it will all look and go, and it'll all fall into place Smiley smile

I’ve got three months to go and I have honestly loved the whole process. I am an organised person by nature and I do plan ahead so this has made it a lot easier! I have also had help from mum and sister. I’ve got a budget spreadsheet and I tick off or delete the stuff on the checklist on here. I also write a To Do list at the beginning of the week and tick off stuff as I do it:l. Good luck and enjoy the process!

I find already made wedding checklists and planners difficult because we aren’t having an ordinary wedding, we’re eloping to Gretna Green so I find myself deleting most the checklist and crossing out most the things in my planner! We’re still having photography and accommodation, meals etc but entertainment, reception, guest related things.. they’ve all had to be crossed out! Once that’s been done though, I’ve found it quite easy with my wedding being far in advance, all the big things seem to rack up in the last 2 months!

    Hi Ostira,

I can only imagine how much of cross out you went through. Happy that you had time to make the changes.
Thank you for sharing your experience! I’ll try to choose the venue first and then work on the rest of my checklist - you made a good point.
Wish you a wonderful wedding at Gretna!

    Hi Denise,
Thank you so much! I do waffle on a bit but it is so important deciding on those crucial things like venue, religious or civil etc before getting down to the smaller details because I found once we decided to have our wedding in Scotland, we had a whole other legal process!

    Thank you Lizzie,

It’s great to know how you are dealing with it! Yeah I can totally relate to that! There are so many decisions to be made - and yeah picking one that both bride and groom will like.
The thing is that I have no idea how to allocate my budget - like trying to figure it out what it’s most important. Eg. Choosing a beautiful venue at the cost of food quality?
Thank you - I’ll try to keep fear at a bay - it’s just one day - thanks for reminding me of that.

Hi, I also deleted off items on the checklist which were not relevant to me. Overall, I've enjoyed the planning process, but I'm also organised and sometimes got too far ahead of myself! I only have 5 weeks to go now, so it's the time where all final payments are made! I have a spreadsheet with suppliers, deposit amounts, remaining balances and deadlines. I also have a spreadsheet with a "to-do" list including items bought and items yet to purchase.

The only times that I've been stressed out were looking for venue and finding a florist. I didn't realise that choosing and booking your florist should be done in advance, but that could be due to Covid backlog. It also took some time to decide on colours and overall theme, as I (or "we" sorry haha!) didn't know what we wanted.

I found the checklist really helped me, as I didn't know what I needed to do and by when! :-)
