Wedding Planning Thread 03/06/2017

I've read lots of these and couldn't resist doing my own, hope you enjoy and feel free to share ideas Smiley smile

Just a little bit about me and the OH. We met through a friend and started 'going steady' (the term he used...) on 15/03/2013. We moved in together relatively quickly on 23/11/2013, and bought our house November 2015. We've slowly been doing it up, and OH kept threatening he wouldn't propose until it was all done.

Thankfully he didn't keep this promise and proposed at Castlerigg Stone Circle on 19/03/2016. He'd asked for ring inspiration a month or so before, so it wasn't a total surprise but it was a very nice one. Especially as the ring he chose is exactly what I wanted, pre-loved art deco, I can’t help but feel incredibly lucky and smile every time I look at it.

We started planning straight away, and booked our ceremony venue within a couple of weeks, Astley Hall:

Ceremony room: <a href="https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/LocationPhotoDirectLink-g503933-d1583749-i42125015-Astley_Hall-Chorley_Lancashire_England.html#42125015"><img alt="" src="https://media-cdn.tripadvisor.com/media/photo-s/02/82/c6/d7/filename-p1000763-jpg.jpg"/></a><br/>This photo of Astley Hall is courtesy of TripAdvisor

Now began the search for the reception venue, this didn’t quite go to plan. We decided we wanted to book Mytton Fold but they were already booked on the day we’d chosen. So quick change of plans and a call to Astley and we changed our date to 3rd June. Which as we’re both fans of Gilmore Girls worked quite nicely as this date is referenced lots in the show.

We decided we wanted lots of colour so having; teal, navy, yellow, purple and grey. I’m having 5 Bridesmaid who will be in different dresses, and OH is having his BM and 4 ushers who will each have a different colour bow tie.

Thinking of flowers like this:

I’ve also sorted the MUA. The ceremony is 11am so it will be a very early morning (and I’m not a morning person). We’ve also booked a rockabilly band for the evening (Doug Perkins and the Spectaculars), and met with Mytton Fold’s venue dressing people.

We’re making our own centrepieces. This is still under discussion but I think they will be records (in place of mirror) with things on, not sure what the things will be. Seating chart and table names will be themed with records and album names.

Also booked a vintage bus to take guests between the two venues, we’re going to get everyone to meet at Mytton and then get the bus to Astley. Everyone’s cars will be in the right place that way J

Save the dates have gone out (except the one’s we’re hand delivering...) and we had our meeting with the registry office this week to give notice.

Oh and most importantly I think I’ve found my dress. My mum is coming down next week and I’m going to try it on again and hopefully order it. http://www.rosaclara.es/en-gb/rc/estanque-2/

I think that’s all for now, feel free to share any ideas or suggestions!

Love that idea Aspenlady, our's would just be lots of Richard Hawley! Thinking of making bunting out of records too, OH's brother works in a record shop so we get lots of cast offs that aren't good enough to sell Smiley smile

I'm in love with the dress, I don't think I'll ever want to take it off. It will be practical for housework won't it :p

Well the dress is ordered, only 5 months to wait for it to come in now! Bought my veil too, £32,50 - bargain!

Also booked our honeymoon flight tonight. We're flying into Vegas and doing a road trip around Nevada and California, very excited!

The Grand Canyon National park is cool as are the grand Canyon caverns.

Just back from a road trip with my dad to fulfil one of his dreams.

Well I’ve had a bit of a rubbish week, so I thought I would update this to cheer me up.

I’ve had a change to my bridesmaid dresses. They were originally going to be 5 dresses in 5 different colours, but this proved quite difficult. I did order one from a bridal shop but it was very poor quality. I have then decided for them all to wear the same dress in the same colour (blue), with silver/grey shoes, petticoats and pashminas, and then sashes in different colours. There will be to with purple, two teal and one (Matron of Honour) with yellow. These are the dresses:

I love them – they’re much closer to my original idea.

    I also have my shoes:

I am totally in love with them – and I think I will wear them again and again.

The men’s suits are chosen and purchased:

Ushers and Best man: (I think...)

OH’s is the same suit but in grey. He’s going to wear a blue shirt and a yellow tweed bow tie. The boys will be wearing white shirts and bow ties in the same colours as the bridesmaid’s sashes with the best man matching Matron of Honour. We just need to change one suit following the change of Best Man, hoping that we can change it with no drama.

We’ve had a proof of our invites and we’re close to finalising those I think. I will flash when they’re sorted J We have also booked the hotel for our honeymoon – we’re staying at New York New York in Vegas for the first three nights in an amazing suit with a hot tub!

Favours are sorted for the women, jar candles called ‘wedding belles’, and I think we’ve decided on the men just having some sweets or something. Playing with the idea of having bird gliders, the little Styrofoam ones, as I am becoming Mrs Nightingale.

Booked our cake person, and the tasting was amazing, her ideas are fab too. We have also booked a surprise for our evening (got to keep it a secret as there is a fellow Hitcher on my guest list) – they are my favourite supplier to date and I can’t wait to see what they do for us. I think we now have all the key suppliers in place.

My dress has arrived and I’ve tried it on. It fits! I can’t breathe but it fits which is always a good start. I don’t have a good photo to show, but I’m going again on Monday if I manage to get a good one I’ll add a flash.

Next big thing really is the invites to get them out and start getting RSVPs back. The hotel is fully booked up following the Save the Dates going out in June this year.

    169 days to go!
