Wedding Questions

With the wedding party, if you are expecting them to wear a certain item or look a certain way, then you need to pay for their costs. So if you want the bridesmaids & groomsmen to wear specific dresses/suits and for the bridesmaids to have their hair & faces done professionally, then you need to pay. If you are happy for the groomsmen to wear 'any blue suit' and the bridesmaids to wear 'any formal burgundy dress' and do either do their own hair & makeup or just turn up with natural hair/faces, then you can leave them to pay for what they choose.

Regarding the bridesmaids, you can buy whenever, but I would leave the flower girls as late as possible. I'm assuming they're very young, in which case they might have a growth spurt and outgrow their dresses if you buy them too soon!

I’m buying the bridesmaid dresses, and have chosen a makeup artist however I’ve told them it’s up to them if they want there makeup done professionally or if they do there own. As our budget won’t cover the costs of makeup. For air we’re just having curls which we are gonna do each other’s and I’ll buy accessories. They’re also buying there own shoes I’ve said any shoes as long as they are gold.
We aren’t sure about suits yet, we want blue suits but we want the best man and groom to have the same so we are gonna pay for there’s but ask the groomsmen to buy there own as long as they are blue or we can contribute towards to the cost of the same suit as groom and best man.
Flower girls I’m gonna buy after Christmas to just be safe I think going off whag you have said. Thank you so much!

Anyway my advice re flower girls is leave it as late as possible. We are having 4 junior BMs aged 8, 10, 12 and 14 so had a challenge with dresses especially as we used JJs House who are based in China. We choose them as they had such a variety and the colour choice and we wanted an adult BM dress in the same colour. We measured the girls in Feb and again April (wedding is 23rd July ) and ordered end of April. We added a few centimetres to each measurement and then ordered that size. All the BMs tried their dresses on at my mini hen do on 11th June and they all fitted except the adult one was slightly big so my sister (MOH) is getting it altered. I guess with ordering them on the big side we can then get them altered locally esp when ordering from abroad. I have paid for all these dresses and they are paying for shoes. I am paying for their hair only as most of them are juniors so won’t be wearing makeup and my mum and my sister wanted to do their own makeup.
We don’t have any groomsmen only my FH and my dad and we have paid for the shirts and suits. Shoes they have got themselves. Hope that’s helped! Just make lots of lists and keep calm!
