Wedding reading, something a bit different?

MrsG2B28.7.12, 6 of June of 2012 at 17:49 Posted on Planning 0 9

After a very interesting meeting with our church administrator I am on a mission to find a reading for our wedding. We already have one friend doing a bible reading but are loving for another, our church is open to most ideas but also insist that the readings are appropriate to the occasion and the couple. As a primary school teacher I would really love a reading from a childrens' book ( think Beatrix Potter, Winnie the pooh, Narnia, Alice in Wonderland, Wind in the Willows) and the church are more than happy for us to do this my only problem is I can't find one!

Can anyone help?

I always think this is really sweet

    Us two

Wherever I am, there's always Pooh,
    There's always Pooh and Me.
Whatever I do, he wants to do,
"Where are you going today?" says Pooh...
"Well, that's very odd 'cos I was too.
"Let's go together," says Pooh, says he.
    "Let's go together," says Pooh.

"What's twice eleven?" I said to Pooh,
"Twice what?" said Pooh to Me.
"I think it ought to be twenty two."
"Just what I think myself," said Pooh.
"It wasn't an easy sum to do,
But that's what it is," said Pooh, said he.
"That's what it is," said Pooh.

"Let's look for dragons," I said to Pooh.
"Yes, let's," said Pooh to Me.
We crossed the river and found a few...
"Yes, those are dragons all right," said Pooh.
"As soon as I saw their beaks I knew.
That's what they are," said Pooh, said he.
"That's what they are," said Pooh.

"Let's frighten the dragons," I said to Pooh.
"That's right," said Pooh to Me.
"I'm not afraid," I said to Pooh,
And I held his paw and I shouted "Shoo!
Silly old dragons!"... and off they flew.
"I wasn't afraid," said Pooh, said he,
    "I'm never afraid with you."

So wherever I am, there's always Pooh,
    There's always Pooh and Me.
"What would I do?" I said to Pooh,
"If it wasn't for you," and Pooh said... "True,
It isn't much fun for One, but Two
Can stick together," says Pooh, says he.
"That's how it is," says Pooh.

    Or a little bit shorter

    “Pooh” whispered Piglet.

    “Yes, Piglet” replied Pooh.

    “Nothing,” answered Piglet,

“I just wanted to be sure of you.”

“If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day, so I never have to live without you.”

“It’s so much more friendly with two.”

“Pooh, promise me you won’t forget about me, ever. Not even when I am a hundred.”

    Pooh thought for a little.

“How old shall I be then?”

    “Ninety-nine.”

Pooh nodded. “I promise,” he said.

“Some people care too much, I think it’s called love.”

I was never a Winnie the Pooh fan until I had kids. I was brought up on Beatrix Potter living over that way. I feel I missed out now - these are both so sweet, especially the second one.

My friend did a 'surprise' reading for us and it turned out to be a bit from The Velveteen Rabbit, which might suit?

    Hi,

I know this isnt a childrens book - atall ! But I went to a wedding and the reading was the reading that Carrie Bradshaw did in Sex and the City when she did a reading at a wedding, It was fab !!

    Wedding Poem by Carrie Bradshaw

His hello was the end of her endings,
Her laugh was their first step down the aisle.
His hand would be hers to hold forever,
His forever was as simple as her smile.

    An ocean couldn’t prevent it.
A New York minute wouldn’t let it pass.
Does the universe decide for us,
Which love will fade and which will last.

He said she was what was missing.
    She said she instantly new.
She was a question to be answered.
And his answer was “I do.”
