Wedding reception

They will usually arrive before you as you will be having your photos done so they arrive and have reception drink and then when you get there your venue will usually announce you. there is no right or wrong, but it is nice for you to have a bit of alone time before the arrival. Our guests will leave the ceremony area about 20 mins before we do so we can get some photos of just us and have some chill time

It sounds as though people are referring to different things and the interpretation of reception.

If you are getting married at a Church with just a few quick shots then you will leave before everyone else and so arrive at your reception first.

When you are at the reception and about to sit for your wedding breakfast then everyone is seated first and you are announced in - generally speaking.

But it depends on the nature of the reception venue. If it has no areas for photos then you would do them at the Church but so as to not keep everyone waiting its best to do the big ones first and gradually let people go to the reception - leaving just the two of you for shots on your own so in that scenario all the guests will arrive at the reception before you.
