Wedding reception in Community Hall

Has anyone had their wedding reception in a village hall or community centre hall? I am very keen on the idea as we are on a tight budget and just wondered if anyone had any advice on how their reception went? Did you still have just as good a time as if you’d spent lots on a fancier venue? Any tips on decoration and food? Thanks in advance!

Take a look at Joel and Claire's wedding in the Real Weddings section. I work with Joel, they had their reception in a village hall and said it was great! I'm having mine in a golf club and it's significantly less than bespoke wedding venues or hotels. Good luck! You shouldn't need to spend a fortune to have a wonderful day!
