***Wedding Report - Flamin Nora's Chilled Sunny Wedding Day ***

Flamin Nora, 15 September, 2013 at 17:44 Posted on Planning 0 16

I know I'm not a regular poster, but I have been here since our engagement and contributed over periods of time and I wanted to share my report with you. Once we got closer to the wedding I didn't come on here or the Facebook group much at all as I didnt seem to have the time... but here I am.

PART 1.

Day Before – Friday.

I woke up in the morning next to my OH and pretty chilled! My OH went to meet his brother and mom for lunch as she wanted alone time before he became a married man, so me and my mom just mooched around the house, sat and read magazines! Neither of us could believe I was getting married the next day, as I will admit, I am a stress head usually. Around 2pm I met my OH for a coffee, it was really nice to see each other just the two of us, without all the hussle and bustle of the others around. We sat and chilled and savoured the moment before the craziness started again. We then scooted back to the house and my MOH turned up with her car. This is when I had a little bridezilla moment! My OH had sorted his brothers’ birthday card for the day after the wedding and decided to sit, there and then, to sort it out! We had so much stuff to get the venue and I’m afraid I had a little tantrum… but it was quickly sorted and we got my dress, the BMs dresses and all our cases into a mini and a polo and set off to my hotel.

Me, my MOH and mom checked in for the night and it was time to say goodbye to my OH. He gave me a little gift which I threw into my bag as it was all rather rushed! After a few room changes (they put me and my MOH in a double room) we went to the spa. This was a perfect choice and I am so glad that I booked it for us, it was so relaxing and exciting to chat about the wedding and enjoy the build up without worrying about anybody else. I had an amazing massage and my nails and pedicure done and my mom loved the pampering too. We then dolled ourselves up and dressed for dinner. My dad (after some organising by my MOH) had put some champagne on the table which was lovely.

My mom had a tantrum at one point when I ordered garlic gnocci! We had a lovely dinner with my other BMs and my auntie. Me and my MOH went to bed and sat and watched Bridesmaids, which was another sweet thing she organised. I opened my present for my OH and he had bought me some beautiful diamond earrings and a bell Pandora charm. His card was so thoughtfully written too and I got a little weepy. We went to bed pretty early, about midnight, and I actually slept really well!

Our Wedding Day!

I woke up around 6am and could not get back to sleep! Partly because my stomach was doing somersaults, sorry for the TMI, but I spent most of the morning on and off the toilet! It was pure excitement and butterflies and when I was a child I used to be the same before our Summer holiday. Anyway, we got up and went to my moms room where we had breakfast delivered and started getting ready. It is true what OM's say - the day just flies. The florist dropped off the girls hair flowers, the hairdresser turned up and the room was full of the hustle and bustle of getting ready! I was pretty chilled still at this point, drinking my prosecco and taking it all in! My mom on the other hand was so nervous, she would not sit still and was so panicky the BMs had to tell her off..

The photographer turned up at this point and took some of the detail pics and then we sent off to the venue in our pjs!

When we got to the venue, the weight of my butterflies lifted as I saw the owner and we were took to the bridal suite. (Which is amazing btw just didnt get any pictures!) We had an hour and a half to just get dressed but this was soon filled with my auntie arriving, my BMs OHs coming to collect their bags and us finally getting dressed! My amazing MOH saw this on Pinterest and they took a pic and sent it to the best man -

And this is the reaction caught by the TOG!

The next minute, I was being collected for the registrar interview...

    PART 2

I had my chat with the registrar which was pretty painless! I still had butterflies but really just wanted to get down the aisle at this point. However, I opened the door into the corridor and my dad was standing the other side. He completely broke down which then set me off. The next part of the day was a bit of a blur, we walked down the stairs, through the venue and into the garden which fortunately we could use as the sun was shining. Our venue owner was amazing, and he had a glass of iced water for me and my dad whilst we waited for the music to start. I was filled with apprehension and excitement, seeing all our guests gathered in the beautiful gardens. I spent this time chatting to my gorgeous nephew who took his riole very seriously and wouldn't let the ring box go! Then we were up! My BM went first, I chose Thousand Years by Christina Perri so at the point of the chorus it was my dad and I's turn. I remember little of this bit, apart from saying 'Don't cry Dad' and him replying 'Sorry!' before starting off again...

I just beamed and sniffled at the same time as I walked down the aisle... but it was amazing when my OH turned around, everyone just disappeared and it was just the two of us. I just said 'Dont let me go!' as I was shaking so much. The ceremony was lovely, we had chosen for our readings; 'A Lovely Love Story', 'The Relationship Promise' and 'Once In a Lifetime' which Jonny's auntie and cousin read together. Only two little hiccups... a helicopter flew over during the ceremony so we had to stop and a wasp decided to take a liking to my OHs ear! My favourite bit from the registrar was when she whispered 'Look after each other' just as she pronounced us hubby and wife! Some pics of the ceremony -

Off we walked to McFly's 'Love is Easy'....

    PART 3

We didn't want a formal receiving line before the wedding breakfast but ended up having an impromptu one anyway! We stood on the terrace where we had an acoustic band, Pimms and canapes to keep the guests happy. After many formal photographs (about an hour and a half) we were pretty fed up, but the TOG got some lovely natural shots which is what we asked for. Here is a little selection...

People really enjoyed this time, rather than it being long winded, which is really what we wanted. It was so relaxed and chilled, watching people on the terrace in the sunshine with my nephew running wild high on orange juice!

The owner then took us off to the marquee to check everything and then popped us in the bar as the guests were seated. This was really lovely special time together, just to breathe, have a drink, and say 'We're Married!

Then we were taken to the marquee and announced as Mr and Mrs. It was the best feeling ever. We had been engaged for 2 and a half years so I spent many a weekend DIYing all the little touches to decorate the marquee and it looked amazing. My friends from book group had also made my cake over many a glass of wine together and we had never seen it until the day. Everything was just the way we had imagined.

The meal was yummy, we had Red Onion and Brie Tart, Lamb Shank and Lemon Posset. Everyone was stuffed at the end! Unfortunately my gran and my OH's grandad couldnt make the day at the last minute but the venue allowed us to change the meal prices for wine! So people were very merry by the speeches. Ill finish this part with my favourite two pictures from the speeches...

The first one is when I found out my dad and OH had lost my indoor cat one day and found her on the roof!

    PART 4

After an hour of mingling with our day guests, rather than going to freshen up like I had planned, the evening guests started to arrive. I quickly got my OH to help me change my shoes (into sparkly Toms, which will cause a little slip up later on!) and started greeting our guests. We had hired a band for the evening, The Redfords, whose duo had played on the terrace in the day. Before they started, around 9 we had the traditional cutting of the cake, throwing of bouquet and then first dance, to 'Iris' by The Goo Goo Dolls.

The rest of the evening was a blur, perhaps because of the amount of wine and then shots we were both doing! The burger bar and late night bacon, sausage and fish finger baps went down a storm.... My mom's comment 'The only negative of the day is there was too much food!' Can't be bad! The band were amazing and I didn't stop dancing, which is why I wished I had freshened up a little. I also at one point spun around and slipped on my dress and ended up on the floor! A few dancing pics...

And thats it! We were the last to roll upstairs and the venue had put some water and bacon sandwiches in our room which was perfect as I hardly ate all day. We read our guest book and collapsed after fighting with my dress and thousands of hair grips!

    N & P -

Moxhull Hall Hotel - Amazing venue, highly recommend for anyone in the Midlands.

My bespoke headpiece and the bridesmaids bracelets - Loulou Belle Designs (a HIB)

Our cake toppers - Love on Top (HIB)

The Redfords - from Kent but will travel!

And of course, Hitched! Lots of Hitchers have helped me along the way, including people past who I bought things off, and people who have advised my daft worries.

    Thanks for reading!
