Wedding ring only

Hi, me and my long term partner have decided to tie the knot. We plan to elope asap and have a no fuss wedding. I've decided against an engagement ring as we never actually got engaged and im not a jewellery person. Im struggling to decide on a wedding ring. I like the idea of a traditioal gold band but when I tried one on I felt it looked a bit boring and manly (I have big hands anyway)! I do want something comfortable but maybe something with a little bit of character.
Does anyone have any suggestions as i am struggling to find something i like? Anyone else just wear wedding band only and what style did you go for? Thankyou.
