Hi all Smiley laugh

Going shopping for wedding rings this weekend in Birmingham and wondered if all you had any particular shops you would recommend? Also looking at getting some sapphire jewellery for the day.

Thank you!! x

My ER and our wedding rings are from Marlows Diamonds. We had all three made for us! The ladies there are lovely, and really make a fuss over you! I would highly recommend the place!

I'm heading there this weekend too.

The places I've read good things about are:

    Marlows diamonds,

    clear water diamonds,

    crystalink,

    classic diamonds,

    design centre,

    crowns jules,

    bicknells

    and premier diamonds.

Hope this helps.... Also interested to hear other peoples opinions.

Ooh, I love the jewllery quarter! I have a sapphire ring from neweys, I don't know where my more expensive pieces are from though as they're gifts. Have fun, I would definitely have gone there if we lived closer and had more time

I got a bespoke emerald ER and wedding ring from Victoria James on Vyse Street. They have such beautiful, unique stuff and will design one to your spec too. I found them much more personable and helpful than the big in your face diamond shops.

i'm heading there this weekend too to get my ER polished.

I went engagement ring shopping there. I really liked Marlows and Bicknells. Ended up getting my ER from Marlows but only because I slightly preferred the ring there. Marlows don't negotiate on price very much though although we did get a bit of a discount. They have told me to go back when it is a year old and they'll clean it and make sure it is all as should be (prevent risk of diamonds coming lose) for free.

Oh the jewellery quarters great!! We went to diamond dealer direct-dreadful name really but it was a pleasure choosing my engagement ring in there. So much so we went back to order our wedding rings from there

Ours came from Neweys in the Jewellery Quarter, very good value. Worth shopping around as I found my ring in 3 different shops there and Neweys were the cheapest. They also made H's ring from scratch as he was being rather fussy lol.

Also if you are in the Jewellery Quarter go to the 24 Carat Bistro, tiny little café up an alleyway, which does home cooked food, it was worth going just for that!

We got both engagement and wedding rings from the jewellery quarter. I can't recommend it enough. We got ours from a little shop I forget the name now but they even mounted the diamond we chose onto the ring my wife wanted the same day meaning we didn't have to travel back and we could leave with it.

Another vote for Neweys here! We shopped around and got a quote for the same style in 4 or 5 shops but they were the best on price by far and service was fab! Lady was very patient with me (I had to try loads on lol) and helped my h2b as he has never worn a ring before and had no clue what he wanted! She also then showed me different jewellery sets and told me if I took my engagement ring back there before the wedding they would clean it up for me ready for the wedding even though it's not from there.

h2b had my engagement ring from diamond heaven - sounds really cheesy! It is beautiful so looked there first for wedding rings but we were ignored & then when finally served it felt like they couldn't really be bothered. H2b said service wasn't great after engagement ring purchase as they were meant to call him when ring was back and they never did meaning he couldn't propose when he initially intended to! Ring was good value for money but service left a lot to be desired...!

    Hey SunnyGreenBridesmaid36!

How did you get on at the Jewellery Quarter?! I was in Marlows on saturday! They resized my ER for me! Only took them two hours and I was able have it back! They also polished it for me all free of charge!

Thank goodness for all the suggestions otherwise I would have felt thoroughly overwhelmed! H2B and I had to stop for lunch halfway as had no idea about all the options and how much the prices vary.

It was between Bicknells and Victoria James - we went Victoria James in the end as really liked the people and the feel of the shop. I have learnt a lot about rings now as I have had to have mine made bespoke given my ER. I will just have to get more jewellery in the future to ensure my new knowledge isn't wasted Smiley winking

Lunch recommendation was fab- would recommend there for a quiet homemade meal which was good value - particularly after the shock of what some wedding rings cost!

Thank you everyone for all your help!! Smiley laugh
