We were originally supposed to be getting married 25th July 2020, but quite early on our original wedding venue encouraged us to postpone, so we set a new date of 14th August 2021 - all good. In around September, we started hearing rumours about the venue and sure enough, they let us know in October 2020 that they wouldn't be able to honour our August 2021 booking as they have decided they no longer want to do weddings at all.
I spent weeks contacting LOADS of other wedding venues to find somewhere that could have us on 14th August 2021. All of our first choices were understandably already booked for a summer Saturday date. I finally found one (a different one to the one I've discussed in a previous post!!) that we would be reasonably happy with and in the middle of December, we booked and paid a deposit to hold our wedding with them on 14th August 2021. We made this booking about three days before the news of the new variant hit and all of the changes over Christmas, etc.
However, since then the world has obviously changed quite a bit since and our wedding venue is closed. I can't get hold of them. Randomly and totally unintentionally (researching commercial land prices for my job!), I have discovered that our new wedding venue that we only booked a month ago is for sale!! It looks like the advert was put up in the last couple of weeks.
What on earth do I do now?! They were supposed to be getting in touch in early February, but I can't get hold of anyone there. I don't know where we stand with our current booking - is the venue being for sale a sign that it's all gone pear-shaped?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
