Wedding websites - are they worth it?

This site actually has a part that says 'Create your Wedding Website'! I was so excited - but it doesn't work. ¬_¬

I wonder if it's a service your wedding photographer could provide? Most of us have blogs where a password protected post could be created with all your info on it.

For those of you using gettingmarried.co.uk, did you use the freebie version or pay for the upgraded version? I don't need a mega mega website, but equally I don't want it to be over run with adverts etc.

If I were using a website as my sole means of invitation and RSVP-ing, I would be more than happy to pay the extra for a "clean" website, but as it is really only to give people another option as an alternative to the RSVP cards I have put in, or to look at whatever we decide regarding gifts etc, I don't want to pay any more than is absolutely necessary!

I have started to set up a site with theweddingcommunity, but now all I get when I go in to edit a page or add details is a click through to either William Hill betting site or some dodgy chat site!!! Not really the impression I was trying to create, I have to say!

Wedding photographers would normally give you an online gallery after the wedding. Not sure if many togs actually provide wedding websites where you can manage guests lists and invitations etc? There are however a few good sites where you can get a free wedding website. I'm sure these can be set up here on Hitched as well.

Any of the website builders which work on a template basis might be worth checking out. I used Wix and it was really straightforward, and about £60 for the year. This was for my business website and had additional pages, but they do offer smaller one-page sites too.

As always, it's best to shop around, don't be confined by just "wedding" websites. What about a closed Facebook group instead?

I've found GettingMarried great, and there's no pop up ads on the free version! I've also found it really helpful to update as things chop and change too with covid or extra info that pops into our heads! :-)
