Hello! Newly engaged so this is my first post here 😆 basically, me and hubby to be have been together a long long time and we cannot wait to get married, but we just aren’t keen on the costs 😂 for us, the money could be put to much better use, but we want something a bit more special than a registry office 😅 anyway, we’ve opted for a church wedding and are viewing a reception venue this weekend. Of all the places I’ve emailed, the menus they send just don’t fill me with joy, I’m a massive picky eater at the best of times and the thought of a wedding breakfast is just like ergh! So we figured, cut that out and it also saves us a fair whack too… win win for us. BUT.. is this normal? Do people do this? What could we do instead? We still want speeches so thought maybe we could cut the cake and everyone gets a slice plus a drink while we do speeches, then straight into the evening do where we will put in a decent buffet? So we would marry a bit later in the day to make this work and then guests could have lunch at home before attending?! Any other suggestions? Thank you x

Hi we are having a church wedding at 2.00. Absolutely did not want a wedding breakfast, so we are having our reception next door in the social club and having a Hog roast at 6.00 and our wedding cake will be desert. No top table or anything. Just chilled, relaxed and then a band in the evening.

Hi, feel like I am late to the party but it is totally fine if you don't want to do wedding breakfast! I also do not like the fact that it has become so extra to get married.
We have opted for a ceremony that starts later in the day so that way we will only have evening buffet, prior to that we will have cocktail hour with some canapes that are included in the buffet package.

Do what feel right for you and your fiancé and what fits your budget too.

    Happy planning!

Hi. It’s a matter of what you want, it IS Your Day! If It was me, I would get married between 4:30pm and 7:00pm. Then have a Cocktail with canapés or little bites. Followed by the Cake and first dance. And have during the dance party an informal buffet or food stations open so people can eat when they are hungry. That’s how weddings are done in Latin America. Mind you they are normally 250+… 600 people. So having a sit down meal is not feasible.

Wedding chats like this always remind me how much goes into building a real connection before you even think about the big day. Whether you’re talking about breakfast plans or long-term goals, finding someone with compatible values makes everything smoother. I had my share of awkward starts and confusing conversations before I figured out what worked for me. Exploring different communities helped, and I found https://ukrainian-dating.net/ actually useful from my own experience. It felt respectful and real, not just another swipe-left app, and made talking to Ukrainian singles more natural and fun
