Weddings are now 15 people max

I’ve booked for Oct 2021 but I’m losing confidence. I’m literally thinking 2022 anniversary party now because I don’t think I will have the numbers and for what my venue costs I can’t justify 30 people much less 15 for that price.

It sounds bad, but the chief medical officer said yesterday there was going to be a vaccine in December and rolled out to the greater population thereafter.

Today's announcement sounds poop but it's 'up to' 6 months. Not 6 months for sure.

Your date is an entire year away. I wouldn't worry.

I don’t see a vaccine in December at all. First they stopped the trials because someone got ill and then there was article yesterday that said the vaccine is suspected of causing spinal problems. I don’t see it happening that quick. I just don’t want to keep paying deposits with an unknown future.

I want to be optimistic but sadly the government haven't even been able to set up an app to track and trace people so I have little faith that when/if a vaccine is ready they will roll-it out quickly and effectively.

I like everyone else is gutted but fear that weddings (large gatherings) will be one of the last things allowed. We were due to get married in June 2020 and moved it to April 2021 (100 people) but honestly with the news a few hours ago I really can't see normal weddings happening in the first half of 2021 at best.

I've just spoken to our catering company and their view and its just a view is that perhaps the latter part of 2021 may be 50 people.

So our decision is whether we move to 2022 or just lose the deposits and have a thing, just the two of us. So heartbreaking.

    You mean the Transverse Myelitis?

Yes, one person already had Multiple Sclerosis of which TM is common, the other case could be classed as a normal variation as there are 10's of thousands of people participating in the trial so it's expected and TM is one of the things ou look out for as a complication with vaccines over other side effects.

If however another case pops up then that is outside the expected numbers then yeah, worth concern. But right now, the AZ vaccine is one of 9 others in late-stage testing and nearing deployment worldwide. I take the words of the Medical Officer with a lot of value and weight as Patrick Valence in particular is very much a pessimist.
