Hi all

Has anyone actually lost any weight for there big day and if so how areyou doing it?

Im curious as im trying to lose my jelly belly for my wedding in may 2009 and have radically changed my diet which im sure will help but i dont have a lot of time to go to the gym but i walk loads and am going to be starting up my wii fit again soon.

Im a terribly fussy eater and eat all the wrong things major chocaholic although am limiting myself to 1 bar a day.So WW or slimming world not really that great an option for me.My weakness is big greay fry ups MMMM!!!!!?

Aslo have a slendertone belt, does anyone have any experience of them working for them?

You sound very like me! I am VERY specific about my food and basically only eat things if my h2b makes it for me as over the years he has learnt what I will and won't eat. For example I will eat cooked carrots but only if they are a certain crunchiness, if they go even slightly soggy I can't eat them and it is a case of can't instead of won't cos they make me want to throw up. I definitely have what I think is a phobia over a lot of food.

I can’t cook to save myself (tried and tried but fail every time) and even if I could cook I hate actually seeing how things are made hence the reason h2b does all the cooking. I am able to cook for myself but only stuff that gets put into the oven basically!

I do like stews and steak but again couldn’t actually cook it and then eat it. I love chips a bit too much and takeaways are my real downfall so if h2b wants them I either have to do without and then hate what I’m eating since I really want the bad food or I give in and have the bad food with him. He has been good with me this week and has stayed away from the rubbish himself but that won’t last and it’s not fair he can’t have bad stuff just cos I don’t want it.

I also sleep eat! Basically during the night I wake up and need biscuits or bread or anything! I am awake when I’m doing this but it’s like I have no control and any willpower I would have had during the day goes out the window at 3am! I don’t like chocolate really but would eat this during the night which really does baffle me! I don’t always remember that I’ve got up and eaten but h2b can always tell from the trail of crumbs I leave!

I’m going to go out a run today since it’s a lovely Sunday afternoon so maybe that will start my motivation!

I also don't eat any veg or salad. I don't eat pasta, rice or couscous. I don't eat red meat (for medical reasons) or any non-white fish like salmon, tuna, etc.. I don't eat eggs, any kind of nuts, anything spicy or herby or with a sauce of any kind.

Of course it restricts you, but it restricts you when you're NOT on a diet too! I have never eaten pizza. I've never been for a curry, or Chinese, or Mexican. I can't buy a prepacked sandwich from a shop as they all have salad, or mayonnaise, or both. I once bought a sandwich from M&S that said "Just Chicken", but when I opened it it had yoghurt in it!

Give it a try. Go along to a group and listen to the new member talk. There's no obligation.

    Hi Kezzy,

My wedding is in May 2009 too so thought now was a good time to start the weight loss. I have been on weight watchers points plan for a week and am loving it. Don't feel at all that I'm missing out (apart from the wine that I usually drink). I am on 20 points a day which lets me have 3 full meals and leaves me enough for a bit of chocolate and some sugar (for drinks). It has really made me think differently about food and it's amazing what thinhgs you pick up (e.g. mixing salad cream into tuna is lower calories than mayonnaise and tastes similar!). In the first week I lost 4 pounds without going to the gym...I'm hoping to get to the gym this week to help. I love it because I love tracdking what I eat everyday and feeling a sense of achievement everyday I stay on track! Good luck whatever method you choose...just keep thinking of yourself in that gorgeous dress! HTH

Ah the lovely M&S Just Chicken sandwich I fell for it as well! I'm exactly the same so there is hope after all. When I'm out at the shops and hungry I am very bad for going to Greggs and getting a sausage roll and muffin so I have started to carry around cereal bars to stop that.

Can I ask a personal question to hopefully give me more motivation? How come you had put the weight on in the first place when you don't have a huge variety to eat from? My downfall is Chinese (I can only eat one dish) but it's mainly the chips, onion rings and fried rice (strangely I will eat that but I hate eggs) that I pig out on and heaps of biscuits and carbs.

I will check out the SW website again and see it I can understand it any better.

I went out a run and then spent 2 hours in the garden and I just know I'm going to ache tomorrow.

At uni I lived three doors down from the best takeaway in the city. Battered sausage and chips for £1.30 and the portion of chips was twice the size of a large portion from my local chippy now, which charges £1.50 just for the chips! And I'd have two breadcakes with it.

And when I fancied a change I'd go to McDonalds and get 20 chicken nuggets and two portions of large fries. Got two portions cos I didn't want the anonymous people in the drive-thru window to know I was getting a box of 20 all for me, but then I'd eat both portions of fries as well.

On the days when I wasn't eating out, I'd have frozen stuff you can stick in the oven (waffles, chicken nuggets, breaded turkey burgers, etc.). I'd buy a multipack of crisps (salt and vinegar squares usually, but occasionally quavers when I was feeling guilty about my weight) and eat the whole multipack in one sitting. And wash it down with a whole tub of smarties ice cream.

I gained 4 stone in 3 months doing this, added a bit more over the next couple of years, and it's taken me 7 years to get my head in the right place to lose it again. It wasn't worth it.

Ah I can see how that wasn't good to eat all that. Thanks for sharing as it makes me realise that it is possible to go from enjoying food heaps to dieting and making it all work. I eat too many snacks and if I cut them out and did some exercise I could afford the odd takeaway. I have went from my mega fit and a size 8 to a size 14 and it's so frustrating as I was previously a size 14 and spent a year getting fit and losing the weight and it wasn't even a chore as I was single, plenty of time on my hands and the gym was my social life so I wanted to go. Now I have a full time job, the business, a house to look after and that leaves me with no time (which sounds like a cop out but seriously isn't because in order for the business to be successful I need to be this busy for the moment).

    Hi mayday

A lot of people i know do WW and its really not the thing for me but having looked at the SW thing chicken sent me some of it is manageable i just need to find a few meals that id like the idea of and rotate them.

I cant explain how i put on weight as i spent the best part of my teens gorging on food trying to put in weight as i was constantly accused of being anorexic, when you only 5'2 and weigh 7 stone people assume.Even after 4 kids i wieghed 7 1/2 stone.I had my last when i was 21.Young starter.

Then i was on the 3 month injection for my pill and went up to a nice healthy 12/14 and stayed there for about 4 years but having changed my pill coz i was so sick of never having a period and whn i did i was in agony i shot up in 4 weeks to a size 18 and now weigh 13 1/2 stone.I dont eat anything different to what i always have.My periods are still only once every 3/4 month and the doc cant explain it.ive never had normal periods and didnt find i was pregnant till late in each baby.Having been used to no period and not gaining weight when pregnant had no clue.

Im doing ok just changing my habits with snacks and thats helping i walk a lot and hoping to join an excercise class or failing that buy a dvd I actually felt quite sick yesterday as had a day out and drank 2 cans of coke the whole day so my minds where it needs to be also ate tomato in a sandwich gagged on the last bit but i ate it!!!!I will change how my mind works but it will be hard i WILL do it xxxx

I lost 2stone in the lead up to the wedding. I'm still trying to carry on loosing weight but since i've swapped my pill i'm really struggling. Not sure why as i don't think i'm doing anything different.

I lost the 2 stone doing WW, i've stopped going to the meetings though now and i am doing it with a group of friends. We pay a £ each week and who ever has lost the most at the end of the month wins everyones money.

When i go for my review in a couple of weeks i'm going to see if there's another one that i can try because it's realyl frustrating i'm working my hardest to loose weight and then i get on the scales and it says no different.

I had been on a pill for nearly 4 years which suited me fine, then i went to the clinic (not normal doctors) for a smear test and she asked about what contraception i was using and she said the pill that the doctor prescribed for my was no good as i was over weight and it posed too many health risks. She switched me onto a different pill and now i can't loose weight.

Bit of a random question for u all.

When my friend got married last year, her bridal shop told her not to lose more than a stone in weight once she ordered the dress as may make it difficult to adjust.

Has anyone else been told this? Just wondering because I have just ordered my dress but I have also just joined SW, ideally I would like to lose 2 stone but dont know if this will cause problems with the dress?

    Thanks in advance

I to have a belly, bum and mama thighs. I have started doing bodytrim (if you look on internet its bodytrim.eu) it promotes eating more protien and having protein only snacks to keep up energy. Having read some of the advice posted on here it mirrors what they say about cutting out starchy carbs and only having carbs in the AM. I have been doing it for about a month and have lost a stone, dont have before and after pics though sorry, god luck with it though and kee your walking its the best for weight loss. I found even jogging bulked my thighs! and didnt get rid of my tum! Good luck
