Weight Loss Tips

Saffy, 13 January, 2021 at 04:28 Posted on Beauty & Wellbeing 2 12

Hi Ladies,

I am getting married next year and I would love to loose a lot of weight. I am currently a size 16/18 and would love to get myself down to a size 8/10 by my wedding. Any tips for helping to loose weight would be very appreciated. My only issue is that i'm not much of a fruit and veg person. I'm a very picky eater, don't really like salad or anything like that so I do struggle with finding healthier options for myself. I just want to be able to feel confident in myself when it comes to my wedding. Thankyou

Wow 4 sizes down that's very ambitious. Tbh healthy eating habits will be a must and regular excercise. Obviously gyms are closed atm but you might best invest in a pt and one that does nutrition too. That way you have someone helping you along the way because the goal you have set yourself is doable but tough. And if you are a picky eater even more so. And honestly you need to find fruit/veg/ salad you like because nutrition is soooo important for healthy weight loss and health in general. Just starving will get you nowhere(initial loss yes but that wont last and then you gain even more) or could have bad health consequences so don't do it. I gained 5 kg during lockdown and am trying to get them down now prior to my dress fitting in april. Loosing 1 pound per week is realistic from what I have heard(trainers as well as Internet). So I bought a second hand fitbit(ebay), count my calories, reduce my cards and excercise 5 times a week plus trying to hit 10000 steps a day as well(that's the hardest bit). Its hard but I am on day 4 now and actually feel a bit better already. Just keep thinking about the dress I want to fit in. Good luck to you.

Hi Saffy, the main thing that counts with weight loss is being in a calorie deficit. You can eat as healthily as you like but if you're not creating a calorie deficit, you won't see weight loss. To create a calorie deficit you can reduce the amount of calories into your body, increase the calorie output through physical activity or a combination of the two which often works best. As RomanticBrownStationery29719 said, weight loss of 1-2lb (0.5-0.9kg) a week is considered optimal for most people as the calorie deficit required to achieve that shouldn't require drastic changes to lifestyle. It also means you're more likely to keep that weight off.

I'm a personal trainer working as an online fitness and nutrition coach and I'd be happy to have a chat with you to give you a few tips on getting started.

Hi Saffy, I'm getting married next year and also really want to lose the body fat I've gained during our many lockdowns.

I recently joined a group called Healthier You, it's only in the beginning stages but my accountability team have a goal to feel comfortable in our clothes again. So basically, the numbers don't matter - eg, our clothes size, the numbers on the scale. By all means attempt to meet your goal of getting to a size 8-10 by eating and sleeping well and doing the exercise, but as long as you feel comfortable in your dress, whether you're a 16 or a 12, that's all that matters. Hope this helps Smiley smile

Hi Sally, as a PT and health coach (in a past time in my life, but I still remember the teachings ?) I would agree with some of what these ladies have said.

Weight loss is in itself quite a taxing task, I am wondering whether right now, with all that is going on, you could take a kind approach to it and make positive lifestyle changes and let that guide you to what can be achieved, as realistically it would be very hard on your mind and body to undergo a drastic weight loss.
This comes from a place of having seen a lot of people struggle with overwhelm for a gazillion of reasons in the past 6 months, the more we can be mindful of that, the better.
I got my dress based on the size I am now, even if I am planning to maybe lose a touch of weight as I change a few habits Smiley smile Feeling sexy and confidence is something you can tap into every day, but takes also a bit of mindset shift.
    Sending loads of love!

    Hiya!
I’m also getting married next year and I have two friends who have gone from a size 10 and the other a size 12 to size 8’s in a matter of a few months. They’ve began calorie counting everything they ate so I’ve started doing the same with the app “MyFitnessPal” and it’s super addicting. It’s also really interesting to see how much one type of food or an items can be so unhealthy for you. I’ve only been going for 3 weeks but I feel a lot better for it. It’s hard to begin with but if you have the motivation then it’ll become second nature. You do look like a little bit of a control freak but I’d take that and be able to fit in my dress ?. Don’t forget exercise though! I do it 4 times a week right now, hoping to do a bit more but you won’t notice any weight loss unless you do some exercise.

Hope that helps but either way, don’t put too much pressure on yourself as clearly your partner proposed because they love you. Have a great time planning!x

I'm a 14 trying to get to a 10 but I've dropped a dress size in two months by eating soup and drinking homemade smoothies. I have two solid meals a week and the rest is soup. I have invested in a rowing machine which has helped massively. I do a kilometre on that each night or two kilometres three times a week after work. Avoid fizzy drinks and set yourself snack limits such as a strip of chocolate as I'm bad for just snacking on a whole bar of galaxy. If you can try and grab a second hand exercise bike and stick it infront of the TV and pop your favourite movie or programme on and you'll forget you're exercising.

I am in exsactly the same position. I have joined the Noom app as, I am 100% an emotional eater. First weeks weightloss 5lbs its a balanced plan with no off limit foods only moderations. I am finding the cbt for the mental health focus on food a game changer. It currently estimates I will be 10st by November 02 2021 and I see no reason so far why that wouldn't happen. It also doesn't cost the earth
Our wedding is 2022 and i have never felt like my target weight is more achievable. My two week trial only cost me £2 as they price it as £14.50 but let you choose what you can afford to prove it works. This is ofcourse only my opinion but I have tried Slimming world and WW previously but although I lost weight could never keep it of. I hope this can help in some way. ? and if no congratulations and good luck with your wedding.

You could try and track your calories by using MyFitnessPal (it's free!). You put in your weight and target and it tells you how many calories you should be eating in a day. You log in what food you eat and the exercise you do. It helps people who are pickier eaters because you can log what you eat... It just means you eat a bit less if you eat the unhealthy stuff. Hope this helps Smiley smile
