What are you having during the signing of the register?

What are you having during the signing of the register? Were having a friend play a piece on the keybaord but have a feeling he has just said yes to be nice - dont know what else to ahve as with him doing one song we would still need a few othere bits. Am lost on this. I went to a wedding where they played a CD but everyone started talking and some people went out for air, which i thought was really out of order. I would like to have a singer but can't afford it. I know this shouldn't stress me out but it is.

I'm not too sure what we'll do yet - one of my friends offered to play the flute for us but TBH it isn't really our kind of thing. We are more likely to put a Kings of Leon cd on. I think it will be some specially selected songs playing quietly in the background for us.

I'm sure your friend didn't just say yes to playing the keyboard because he felt obliged. I also don't think its worth spending a lot of money on something for this part of the day - its so short and, as you said, some people end up just disappearing for a smoke, stretch of legs etc anyway.

We were going to have a CD of some special songs to us and our families, but now my friend has offered to arrange a piper as our wedding present we will more than likely make use of him, although having said that i know bagpipe music isnt everyones cup of tea and we may end up with a few leaving the room at that point!! so i guess we will have to be careful with our choice of music, but i have been assured that the piper is of great calibre and is currently playing along the great wall of china for trek china! will will always have the CD as a back up should anything (god forbid) go wrong x

I think i will make a Cd of music that means something to us. It is the easiest and least stressful thing to do.

As for a piper. My bestfriend was piped in down the aisle in scotland and it was breathtaking! I think its all about personal choice and as you say Gillsy ,its not worth the money and the worry this time of dsay as its so small.

    Cheers

I've not been to a wedding where people have left while signing the register...

I really want Rackamioff's Rapsidy on a Theme of Pagnini. Current idea is to have some songs on an IPod (the venue has ipod setup to speakers) so we'll have a few.

We're also toying with the idea of booking a harpist to play during the ceremony (as the guests arrive, entrance and exit music and signing the register).

We had a string quartet to play while guests arrived, for me to walk up the aisle, during signing the register and then when we walked out. What are you walking up the aisle to? I'm sure your friend hasn't just offered to be nice, he probably really wants to be a part of your day. How about asking him to play a couple of songs that are special to you and your OH? Or how about putting together a collection of songs on a CD/i pod and play that?I can't believe that some people would walk out during this part of the ceremony, that's just awful.

If any of my guests had left during the signing of the register I would have told them to bugger off and not come back!! I loved walking back up the aisle to see everyone standing there. No one would walk out of a church before the Bride and Groom so it shouldn't be any different during a civil ceremony.

Anyway we had Book of Love https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nZGv8VTBVE and Kissing You https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nZGv8VTBVE and then got piped up the aisle to Rowan Tree.

I think we will have a cd too of our fav songs, one of OH's is Jerusalem, which they play when the england cricket team walk out but its a beautiful song so we will probably start with that. Plus its the one part he has contributed to and insisted on!

My brother in law is writing a tuba quartet which him and 3 of my friends will be performing during the siging of the register.

Goodness knows what it will sound like (I don't really like tubas... didn't quite think it through when I asked him!).
