What can I use instead of a souffle dish?

Meep, 1 November, 2008 at 18:15 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 3

I am making a souffle tonight for dinner guests. I've just taken my souffle dish from the cupboard and noticed it had a crack in it, then it fell into 2 bits ? It must have been cracked in the move a few weeks ago and I didn't notice. It's too late to go out for a new one - can I use another type of dish? Small ramekins even?

Thanks for any advice - I'm away to pour a large glass of red and not pull my hair out, back soon!

You could make individual souffles in small ramekins.

Stupid question, but I take it you mean a hot souffle? Brave you, cooking it for guests! Small ramekins should be fine but you'll obv need to reduce the cooking time quite a bit.

Mmmmm, I am craving souffle now!

It's a hot souffle, HFW recipe. I've made it before and it's always been fine, now that I'm doing it for guests I will really screw it up.

Thanks for the tip on reducing hte time for making 4 mini-ones, my brain is too tense to have thought of that. Here goes.............

Ramekins will be fine, as long as they have properly vertical sides (ie sending your souffle straight up, not up and out).

    Yum, I love souffles.
