What did you do for your Hens night?

sherry, 23 January, 2009 at 21:51 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 30

Asking here as many of you are married(I know, I know not every one is married)

I'm planning mine but I don't want it to be tacky but everyone involved wants a theme of somesort.

Ages range from 20-60years.

Any ideas?

We went to a cheesy 70s club then to a casino (where we met up with the blokes on the stag night).

Some only went to the club, others only to the casino. It seemed to suit all ages.

I had two, one was a night out with the girls in Swansea, no theme or anything just a laugh! The other one was a weekend away at Alton Towers (different friends) which was great.

There was also an unofficial one which was a hitched meet a week before I got married in Swansea, a meal and lotsa drinking afterwards, again in Swansea.

I was boring, no themes or anything as I just wanted to have a nice time with friends.

We just went for a meal and a couple of drinks. How about a meal followed by a flutter at a casino, or a day at the races or something like that? You could dress up for the occasion without looking like a traditional hen party.

Well I had ages from mid 20s up to early 60s.

We were in Sheffield (central for everyone and where most of us went to uni). During the day we all had various spa/beauty treatments at the hotel beauty/spa place.

In the evening we met in my CBM's room for champagne and then went out to dinner. Following that we went on to a 70s/80s night at a nearby club.

No theme as such or matching outfits as I made it clear I didn't want any tackiness. However, to identify us in a group and to go with the 70s/80s night, my CBM had got everyone glittery red, heart-shaped deely-boppers which everyone (except for my sister) wore, inc. my mum and godmother.

Two of my best friends hen nights were both lovely but poles apart, one was a quiet meal in a lovely italian restaurant followed by a trip to a chanpagne bar. The other was a full blown night out involving a fabulous time in a drag club, it was the best night out ever.

We are having to stay locally, so are planning on a meal and drinks afterwards in the pubs. We do not have a casino or anything other than pubs - so we're limited already ?

I also had a cheesy hen night.

Meal in an Italian - Karaoke Bar - Club (with VIP booth ?)

I hadn't set a theme or dress code but my bridesmaids had bought pink deedy boppers for everyone to wear and we all had the compulsory willy straws.

    Was a great night.

    I think that's my problem, if I wore a veil etc i'd feel ermmm a fraudster ?.

I'm wondering if we do a colour scheme / feather boas just to show we are part of a group.

Me and two bridemaids went to see a show together. Then met up with everybody else for a meal, a limo ride (where we did all the silly stuff - like an in-depth questionnaire my sister wrote for me.) Then off to a club. My sister did little party bags for everybody - including mini bottles of vodka with pictures of me as a toddler on. Think I've still got one somewhere.

My friends organised a pink tea party in the new forest for me! Then we went back to a freinds house in the afternoon and did girlie things, then went for a meal and a cheesy club and all stayed over after and watched girlie films and chatted till we fell asleep!

It was nice coz some people came to some bits, and some people stayed for all of it!

My friend arranged a surprise medievil banquet at Hatfield House. She got my costume and sorted out the guests and transport and everything and it was a real laugh. I had another london weekender in a members club and stuff too and there was a small surprise dinner / bridal shower thingy at another friend's house. I think we did a spa day as well - or i may be muddling that with my 30th.

Greek meal (and waiters dancing and smashing plates) followed by drag queens (dancing and singing, but no plate smashing) - I wasn't going to have one initially but my SIL wasn't letting me get away with it so arranged a night out. It was a bit cheesy but no dressing up involved thankfully. No real theme there except being entertained by men.

I spent a weekend camping with a group of friends. We had lots of booze, lots of food (done on a couple of bbqs) and played lots of games like football, giant pick up sticks and tag. It was ace.

I rented a 3 bedroom apartment in London for mine which we used as a base. I stayed in with three friends on the Friday night (pizza, wine, cupcakes and films) and then more people joined us on Saturday. We spent a couple of hours on a chocolate making course (great fun, but messy!), then went back to the apartment in the afternoon for a champagne afternoon tea and pampering (think manicures, face masks etc) and then got glammed up for a dinner at a jazz club.

I was adamant that I did not want any tackiness and to be fair my friends did listen to me. The most I had to endure (all in the privacy of the apartment and out of the public eye!) was a Mr and Mrs quiz (which was quite amusing) and a series of increasingly tacky presents to open (grow your stripper, candy nipple tassles, a "pocket pleaser", etc...). The only "hen" thing I had to wear in public was a tiara (and it was one of the less horrific versions!).

Mine is tomorrow the plan seems to be head into Cardiff for some early cocktails and dinner, go see a pantomime, head home for some ps3/wii playing, film watching and food. I think the stag do will be at home later on in the evening so I'm looking forward to convincing drunk middle aged blokes to play Abba Singstar with us.

My best friends organised me a fire engine limo which took 8 of us on a drive round Glasgow for an hour - in the fire engine was 8 fire mans hats, 2 giant bottles of (cheap) champagne, a karaoke machine and disco lights - it was cheesy but i had the best time!!! I have a "thing" for fire men, hence the reason for the fire engine limo. (which is quite ironic as my H is a police man!) Anyway... then after an hour the fire engine dropped us off at the Curry Karaoke restaurant where i met up with another 20 friends. Its not everyones cup of tea but we had a fantastic time!!

For mine, me and 7 friends flew over to Belfast and had the bank holiday weekend there, lots of drink and lack of sleep, it was great.

I had one back home for the people who didn't come to Belfast ie mams, aunties, cousins and other friends who didn't come to Belfast (oldies weren't invited ?) we went to the dogs then went into town after that, they were both great.

    What a great idea LaLu.

There were 6 of us going, but unfortunately 1 got sick on the day. We trained it into London and went to see The Jerry Springer show matinee, followed by cocktails (I can't remember where now) and then a meal at the Ivy. I loved every moment!

The show wasn't quite what we expected, and if I had my time again I'd choose more of a 'chick-flick' type show.

    Dinner was ? though

We then caught an earlier train than the one we were going to catch (the last one!) because the taxi driver drove us through London as if he were James Bond (egged on by us - it was hilarious), runny for our lives in silly heels giggling like teenagers. Flopped on the train in fits of giggles!

We then joined the boys in the restaurant opposite our house (where we later had our UK reception) for last orders. As they all know us, the managers and staff joined in. Great night!

Back to ours for more drinks and merriment. Although one of my mates decided to burn a ripped up card-board box and put it on the fire all in one go. Nearly set light to the bloody chimney!

My best friend organised a 1930s murder mystery evening at a hotel complete with actors, we ate, drank champagne and solved a murder, I was paraded handcuffed to one of the actors around the hotel bar (which was full of wedding guests) very embarassing but was fun. I had no idea who did it though due to the champagne I consumed!

We had a lovely champagne brunch at my house, organised by a friend, and then had a burlesque dancing class at a dance studio, which I thought I would find cringingly embarrassing but it was actually a laugh. We then had a drink in a pub and went back to another friend's house where we had pizza and there was a Mr & Mrs style quiz. Then a few more people joined us and we went out to a club in the evening.

It was really good fun and just what I wanted.

Wonderful. We hired a gorgeous house in somerset somewhere and got in 14 of us, dorm stylee. Everyone was charged with bringing a skill, be it massage, manicure, a salsa lesson..or rather surprisingly a stripping lesson.. my best bird brought wire and flowers and we made flowery headdresses, all wore pink (as I was going through a very aberrant (sp?) pink phase, with much resistance from the lesbians). We ate an amazing meal catered by the amazing hens, and we ate and drank ourselves stupid on champagne cocktails, singing drunkenly and loudly into the night.

The next morning I was first up and picked my way through a trail of flowers, feathers, glitter and champagne bottles. It was like coming across the aftermath of a demented fairies midsummer party.

Rest of the weekend we did a bit of walking to pubs, lots and lots of sitting round the fire talking.

It was the most amazing weekend of my life. So happy. Such a lot of love and effort into it.

I had a murder mystery party - I got a company who arranges them to come to a local hotel in Lincoln (they go all over the country). They had one especially for hen nights based around a being on a cruise. All the characters were female 'celebrities' (I was Claudia Shifty) and they take details about you and your fiance and build them into the story. It was hilarious, I had a brilliant night. Most of us then went to a club afterwards, some people went home.

I have a hen do later this year and we are off to Center Parcs for a couple of nights. Can't wait for that one too!

My hen do consisted of me and my friend as I just wanted a quiet affair.

We stayed at our wedding venue in Chester, spent the day shopping, champagne lunch, back to hotel for more champagne and chocs and then out for a nice meal.

    Was very civilised and peaceful.

We all met at my Mum's house, where she'd done a light buffet. We then all got in a mini bus into a local town and went to a few pubs. We then went to an 80's club, where my BM's had rang before hand so we got in for free and were given loads of free stuff (like Madonna cone bras, big sun glasses etc) and a bottle of champagne.

General theme was that we all wore something pink.

It was pure cheese but a great night out!!!

Thanks for the replies and sharing your experiences. I'm still none the wiser about what we are going to do - although have had a few suggestions. I've still go a bit of tiome so there is no rush.
