What does 'no corkage allowed' mean?

HappyPinkConfetti118, 26 May, 2014 at 12:45 Posted on Planning 0 4

Hi can anyone help? Looking online at a potential venue and it says 'no corkage allowed at the hotel'

does this mean we aren't allowed to bring our own wine or does it mean we can and they won't charge?

Thanks xx :-)

I imagine that if they weren't going to charge corkage it would say "no corkage fee" or similar. I think that means that you can;'t bring your own alcohol in.

I would assume it means you can't use your own wine / fizz. If it was for no charge then I would have expected them to say no corkage fee rather than no corkage allowed.
