What is your first dance song?

bex_101, 7 August, 2008 at 09:00 Posted on Planning 0 33

I'm really struggling for ideas, we only 'have' 1 song and its not really suitable for a first dance. Would you mind sharing? I'm traying to persuade H2B to do it, I think if I narrow down a list and he just has to pick from a short group of songs...........

We had Andy Williams You're just too good to be true! We did a bit of twirling on the dance floor before getting bridesmaids etc to join us then invited everyone up and it got the dancing started with a bang!

Big tip: If you're having a summer weddng, no one will be interested in dancing until it gets darker, especially if it's a ncie day with a lovely outside area! Our first dance took place after 9.30pm and I was at another wedding this week the same.

We really struggled to decide on our 1st dance song but have now decided to go with Cascada - everytime we touch - candlelight remix.

At the moment I think we're going to go for Have I Told You Lately - I love the Rod Stewart one but H2B wants the original Van Morrison one so we will probably go with that.

We are having 'Far Away' by Nickleback.

We practised in the garden the other night so I think the neighbours may think we are a little strange now!

Were having 'Head over feet' by Alanis Morrisette. The words are perfect. I was worried we wouldn't really be able to dance to it either, but we are having a few lessons and dance teacher says you can dance to anything. Ten weeks on saturday!

Out of those two I'd chose Al Green.

Not set in stone, but leading contender is currently "For Once In My Life". My mum has a lovely duet version by Stevie Wonder and Tony Bennett. However, I was listening to my iPod yesterday and Alicia Keys "If I Ain't Got You" is starting to win me over as well.

Think we're going to have Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol. Its a song that means something to both of us, although I am starting to think it might be a bit too slow IYSWIM.

Good choice I really wanted Your just to good to be true as well, but was a bit worried that when it got to the Doo doo doo doo bit we would get a bit carried away!!!

We may well have 'your just to be good to be true' as we figured maybe when it got to the faster bit we could kind of get everyone else on the dancefloor with us so wouldn't be a full 4mins of us smooching! I think it's a great classic !!

I've been to a couple of weddings where this has been the first song and like others have said its great for getting everyone up on the dancefloor. The words are very apt too for a wedding song. I think its a good choice x

    Hello

Our first dance is to Take That Rule the world Smiley smile

When we first met though the song that would play all the time was Micheal Grey's the weekend....so we are going to ask everyone to join us when they play that at somepoint through the night.

    ?

Old married here! We had our friends' band playing 'You and Me Song' (by the Wannadies). We just jumped around during the fast bits and it was fine.

My advice is to just go for a song you both love, and stuff what anyone else thinks.
