What music did you/will you have at your wedding ceremony

zoe@hitched, 4 September, 2015 at 11:53 Posted on Planning 0 34

Hi and happy Friday!

I'm working on a piece to inspire couples choosing their wedding ceremony music. If you could let me know what music you had or are planning to have at your ceremony, I'd love to include it in the feature!

Your walk down the aisle song, signing the register music, any hymns and the music you plan to exit to as newlyweds...and anything I've possibly missed.

Thank you Smiley smile

For gathering and entrance (there was no aisle to speak of) we had Last Time by Bond which is a kind of instrumental arrangement of Bittersweet Symphony.

For signing we had All the Time in the World by Fun Loving Criminals and When Tomorrow Comes by the Eurythmics.

To exit we had Goldfinger by Shirley Bassey which took us out to the DB5.

    Bagpipes for us.

In to Highland Cathedral and out to The Gael.

The only 'real' music we've had to choose is our first dance Smiley smile

Processional: Savage Garden, 'Truly Madly Deeply'. DH chose it: love him, hate this song!

Register: 'What a Wonderful world', Louis Armstrong and 'Bridge over Troubled Water' by Simon and Garfunkel

    Recessional: 'Thinking' by Rusty Shackle

Followed by a mixed bag of random stuff (including 'Ernie the fastest milkman in the West' among others) for the next 15 mins while everyone trailed out behind us

We are having Nick Drake, Aphex Twin, and the Smiths. I know... it's an unlikely combo.

    Not sure at the moment

Thinking of All you need is love by the Beatles for walking down aisle, and the chain by fleetwood mac (grand prix intro music as my OH loves cars)

my friend had a metallica song to walk down the aisle (her fav band) and to leave the friends theme tune (shes a big fan), which were both so fitting. I wish i had some really meaningful song or one that people think aww thats so k.j.w/us.

We're also having bagpipes (that's if the vicar allows them)

    for walking down the aisle:

    highland cathedral

    walking out:

hills of argyle, and others once out (leaving that up to them)

luckily for us my h2b plays the bagpipes and plays in 3 bands, so we have one of his band mates is playing for us ?

The only one I know 100% is that I'll be waking down the aisle to The Shape Of Things To Come by Bear McCreary, from Battlestar Galactica. I might also have Passacaglia by the same composer and from the same show at some point. I'd quite like our recessional song to be Tender by Blur. We're not having a first dance.

    Hello,

Not sure if you are still interested, we got married in July and had:

Entrance Music: Paradise Stars - Noah & The Whale

Exit Music - All I Want Is You - Barry Louis Polisar

First Dance - Crack The Shutters - Snow Patrol

We didn't have a DJ, we chose to play our own songs using Spotify, playing a range from Foo Fighters to Frank Sinatra. I played a Cliff Richard song for my late Mum and we even had Imagine Dragons version of Taylor Swift's Blank Space. We played my husband's favourite song, Agape by Bear's Den followed by Luther Vandross with So Amazing.

We had a whole range of songs but the most important thing and the reason we didn't have a DJ, is that every song we played meant something to one or both of us Smiley smile

    We were not at all traditional so doubt anyone will be picking up tips from this but;

for guests arriving - should I stay or should I go, I predict a riot, I would walk 500 miles, one way of life - can't remember the others.

walking down the aisle - In my life, the Beatles. OH loves the beatles and I chose it as a surprise for him.

signing the register - Clare Island, The Saw Doctors. We both love it.

Walking out - Beautiful day, The Levellers. One of our favourite tracks by a favourite band.

Apparently my cousin had to stop his wife from dancing whilst they were waiting for me to arrive?

Signing the register - Sara bareilles - I choose you.

Newton faulkner - if this is it.

And if we get chance, for my father's amusement - iron maiden - bring your daughter to the slaughter.

Another bagpipe bride. I really like Highland Cathedral but OH not keen so probably going with Rowan Tree for processional. If we can persuade the piper it will be a piped version of the Star Wars theme for our exit but unlikely he'll want to do that in which case I'd quite like Mairi's wedding if it's an option.
