What table decorations are you having? Q about candelabras?

mummymrs2b, 11 February, 2012 at 20:29 Posted on Planning 0 15

Just wondering what table decorations everyone is going for? The venue said we got use of the candelabras so was thinking of using these and getting some flowers for round the top or bottom, any with pics of this or any other table decs feel free to flash Smiley smile Have a question though, do candelabras block the tables up? Don't want them stuck in the middle of the table and people not being able to see each other round the table. X

I'm not a fan of candelabras or any big tall centerpieces for exactly the reasons you describe. We are having mirrorplates and fishbowl style.

We're having mirrors (circular), with 6 candles on each (3 tall, 3 tea-light, using the IKEA dual-use glass holders which are very simple and elegant) and I'm hoping to get some table confetti stuff but not sure whether to go for sparkles, fake pearls, or other (theme of wedding is 50's pin up glamour, so strings of fake pearls arranged around the candles plus a scattering of crystals and maybe a feather or 2 could work... )

Candelabras are lovely if they are tall enough. At my first wedding I had very tall ones with cascading flowers, but all high enough for people still to see and talk to each other, and have a good view of the top table. Normal shorter ones are more of a problem.

We're having 60cm tall candelabras as centre pieces. Our venue has a very tall ceiling so we need the height of the candelabras to try and balance things out - also love candles.

Personally don't like flowers around candles so ours are going to be plain silver with clear crystal beads strung around them. They will be standing on mirrors with crystal beads scattered on them as well.

Our venue has offered their candlesticks, and here's a few pictures of them done up:

I'm not sure I'm going to use them, as the room isn't overly large and I don't want to have to decorate them. I'd rather just have teacup flowers and pillar candles on saucers!

I'm having candelabras, but the very tall ones with a ring of flowers around the bottom, my venue also allow them to be lit so this is the look I wanted. I wouldn't have gone for the little ones and I don't want anything hanging from them as I also want people to see round them. The room we are having is quite big the amount of people so they won't look out of place.

The ones in the piture don't seem very high, can they not put one on a table for you so you can sit down and see if you like the view so to speak. Are you having the table like these, they seem very close to the place settings??

As some of the PP's have said, I think tall centrepieces are fine if they are very tall, your guests will be able to see each other underneath them, its just if they are mid-height really that they will block peoples view.

I'm having 60cm lily vases, with a spray of flowers in them, we're doing these ourselves and did a mock up of them and tried putting them on our dining table and sitting on the chairs, we can see underneath them just fine.

I think candleabras can look brilliant and really have an impact, but I do think they lend themselves to a particular style and theme of wedding but if they fit in with yours then go for it, they're very classy and grand! Some wonderful pictures on google images.

Ooo I love candelabras! Nice tall ones are best they dont block the view and are great if you have quite a large room as they help to 'fill' it if you know what I mean? Heres 2 lovely ones I took at weddings for inspiration: they are just gorgeous with flowers round.

Im still undecided wether to use them, gonna have a nosey round see what i can find to go with them and other decoration ideas then it may help make up my mind. Could do to go back to the venue and have a look at them, but theres a wedding fayre there next weekend so hoping i will be back in time to get to it and they may have one of the rooms set up! These are the canelabras i have to choose from that the venue supply. The metal ones ive seen in gold and black and oh thinks hes seen silver ones..

I love candlebras, but I feel they are one of those things that really has to be of a very high end quality. Cheap candlebras, just look tacky.

and I agree with others that I really dislike sitting around a big table with a huge centrepiece that means I cannot see ahead. Either keep it low, or put all the 'action' as it were way above peoples viewline.

    Dear MeganHerring,

Please Note: Bumping really old posts only highlights the fact that you are consistently posting links to that website... ?
