What to do - Best Man/woman/person

Tom, 17 July, 2022 at 22:10 Posted on Planning 0 3
Hi all,

So it's maybe not the strangest situation ever but my OH and I decided to finally get married next year and I am really struggling with the idea of who to ask to be my best (wo)man so figured I'd ask for advice. So for me the struggle is committing to someone to ask because - I'm the kind of person that gets super anxious about making plans so naturally drift out of friendship groups.- I also moved 3 hours away from my longer term friends 10 years ago and not once have they visited us so I feel like they would maybe not wanna.- it feel guilty putting that task on someone who doesn't see me as a best friend anymore
Also family is kinda out of the question in my own head for the same reason as point 2 above.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Because it's causing me strangely more stress than it probably should.

Why do you need anyone? My FH has two brothers and a sister and has still decided not to have a best man as they are not close. My dad and FH will wear the same suit, we don’t have any speeches so he doesn’t need a best man and we haven’t had anyone make an issue out of it. Do what you want, not what is expected!

There is no law that you have to have one, if you genuinely don't have anyone you are that close to then take the stress away and don't have one.

You definitely don't need a bridesmaid / MOH! You will need a witness to sign the registry so you can choose one to do that.

I've been a witness in a wedding where I wasn't a bridesmaid before and it's nice to be asked Smiley smile It doesn't involve any responsibilities.
