What to include in invitations?!

Beth, 2 September, 2021 at 21:19 Posted on Planning 1 6
Hi all - I’m making my own invitations & I’m wondering what I need to include.
I have done mock ups of the full day invite (these include our names / location / date / time / then ‘reception to follow’), the RSVP & the evening only invite.
I feel like something is missing but I’m not sure what? I’ve seen images of invites 3/4/5+ inserts but I just can’t figure out what I am missing (if anything). Maybe I’m just looking at too many different images and getting all worked up! Can anyone let me know what was included with their invites? Just for clarity, we are everything all in the same place, my MOH & the best man, my brother & his partner and my fiancé’s family are all travelling to come to the wedding (that works out at around 50% of the guests).Any help is massively appreciated! X

    Think you have it covered.
If your having a wedding breakfast you could mention that so guests know they are being fed. (If there is options then this is normally asked here too)

If you are doing it in hotel and get discounted rooms you could put a note in about them. Same with if it’s location most people would need to travel too, directions/ transport links/ car parking information etc. But this could be a note insert again. Also gift list/money information. But you don’t have to.

If is an all in one venue then I think you have it all covered. You could put an order of the day insert to include ceremony time, drinks, meal etc. We are doing it all on our website through Hitched as is more sustainable than sending invites and is free so saves money. Our venue has several restrictions as it is a ruined Castle, so we have created a page on the website to put all that info on and links to our discount code for the hotel and taxi firms as well, I think having it all in one place on a website makes it easier for people these days as they can access it all easily and RSVP online as well and ask questions. It takes a bit of time to add your guests in but once they are there I have found it so easy to do my table plan and move people around when we have had people decline so mat be worth having a look at doing that?

Order of the day & meals is something I completely bypassed!! We are doing a website too so I’ll probs just put a copy of that on the invite too. Thanks so much!

We kept ours super simple (and didn't bother with a save the date). Date/time/location

I used Canva (it's free) and stuck a bar code on it with a link to a Wix website. (website also free). We then put all info on the website such as dress code/hotels/no kids etc etc. The website has a link on it so people can RSVP and put in any dietry needs etc. I don't know whether it would let you add menu options or anything like that. It's been so easy and I just get emails when someone RSVPS. Means people don't end up with loads of paper, don't need to post anything back and more importantly, I don't end up with loads of pieces of paper for RSVPS!

You'll need to include a menu and ask for food choices/allergens. Depending on location, you might also want to include information on parking and on accommodation in the area. We did a separate A4 sheet which included information on food, local parking, local accommodation etc, so the invite was just the date/time/venue.
