What's your guaranteed get up and dance song?

AnnaMolly, 17 of July of 2015 at 11:22 Posted on Planning 0 33

I'm thinking about songs that I want to be played by the DJ and I want people to dance! So for inspiration, what can you not resist having a boogie to?

One of mine is N-trance Set you free. Apparently I'm a sucker for a bit of cheesey 90s dance ?

What's yours??

Mine is useless to you, as it's slipknot duality, but i think something like that uptown funk song should get most people up?

Ha, I love that song although I fear it may scare some people off the dance floor (slipknot that is not Bruno Mars ?)

Usually I say Jackson 5, Blame it on the Boogie, but we were at a wedding at the weekend and the dancefloor really filled up for Twist and Shout. But it was a live band, so I don't know if it would have the same effect with a DJ. Also agree with all those saying Uptown Funk!

Anything Motown or Northern Soul will get me up and keep me going all night! Also anything cheesy such as Time Warp, I haven't stopped dancing yet, Tina Charles, another vote for the Nolans, and, of course, Abba!

My dj also did my 21st birthday party so already has a pretty good idea of how to get my family up dancing. He knows that to get my brothers up its anything by Bon jovi (usually living on a prayer) or Bryan Adams summer of 69. As for me and my friends anything with a set dance routine such as macerana, Saturday night, cha cha slide, anything by steps etc and I will be right at the front of the dance floor leading everyone. Also I'm a begginer ballroom and latin dancer so may have to work a cheeky cha cha cha lesson into the night ?

An idea that I have seen online is to ask everyone to choose their 'jam' and write it on their RSVP - that way everyone gets to hear and dance to something that they like. I think I might do this or a variation of it because I'm too paranoid and would be worried everyone would hate the music!

Like others have said, Uptown Funk is my music of choice at the moment!

    Some awesome songs here!!!!

The bride on last saturdays wedding wanted a little 90's dance section which included 'set you free' and 'no limit' by 2 Unlimited!!! (In fact all 90's songs go really well at the moment!)

As most weddings have such a range of guests/ages try to think of everyone in song choices....

We did the request a song for the DJ on the RSVP snd everyone loved it! Got a great mixture although I have to admit I did have to Google some of them!

My OH two faves are Livin on a Prayer and Summer of 69 - karaoke choices for sure when we are on hol!

I like 90s stuff too - Dreamer is my favourite!

    Also:

    Blackstreet - No Diggity
    Wiley - Heatwave
    Tinie Tempah - Pass Out
    Maroon 5 - Sugar
Guns N Roses - Sweet Child of Mine - I think this is another one of his karaoke ones!
Foundations - Build me up buttercup
The Mavericks - Dance the night away
Mike and the Mechanics - The Living Years
    Tom Jones - Help Yourself
    Fratellis - Chelsea Dagger
    The Killers - Mr Brightside
    The B-52s - Lovedshack

Oops got a bit carried away!

I also think Uptown Funk but a bit fed up of that song!

    xXx

There are so many tracks which get everyone up and jumping about! The key is playing a really good variety of tracks for everyone and having a really good DJ who can read the room and dance floor to arrange everything into a smooth flowing play list.

Getting requests with RSVPs is a good idea, making sure you remove any you hate before passing it over to your DJ! Try and word it so people request songs that they'd like to dance to, rather just a favourite song, which can be very different!

    Hope this helps

    James
