What's your wedding theme or colour?

mummymrs2b, 29 of January of 2012 at 11:12 Posted on Planning 0 20

I'm going for purple but not sure what to put with it. Love the idea of a peacock colour theme, but the venue room is gold and pewter which also look very nice with purple. So can't decide Which to go for. Suppose it depends what I can find and in what colour. What theme or colour are you going for? X

Yellow & cadbury purple seems to be popular and look great.

I've gone for Ivory, Petrol Blue and Silver. The petrol being the main colour of BM's dresses, only problem cannot find ribbon to macth the swatch from the BM's dress nothing comes near. I always have to make things difficult for myself! haha Want the ribbon so I can start making me invites so frustrating!

Love purple stunning colour! have you got a flash of any ideas?

We are yellow and blue. BM's dresses will be blue, flowers will be yellow.

I'm not obsessive over matching everything though or requiring a particualar theme as such.

We are having a medieval theme with purples as the main colours, accented with gold and silver. The bits we have so far are lovely.

You can get feathers in these colours, if you wanted to combine the themes.

Basically the best way to make a colour scheme is to use either analogous or complementary colours. If analagous, I'd go with yellow-orange, yellow, and yellow-green (basically 3 colours next to each other on a colour wheel with tertiary colours included- the double-barrel names). For complementary, I'd say the gold-ish yellow-orange would go remarkable well with a violet blue!

My colour scheme is sage green with burgundy and a dusty rose, burnt umber, and forest green. They're complementary, but with variations in saturation and tone. I've got my palette on my mood board:

My theme is dusky pink ivory cream and baby pink.

in my experience its best to tie it in with the colours in your room as otherwise it can look a mess!

We're having turquoise and fuschia so that's not going to help you.

Do you have an idea of what kind of feel you want the day to have? Purple with either gold or pewter would be quite classy whereas purple and yellow/turquoise/pink would be quite vibrant and funky.

I agree! I wanted mine very neutral but our venue has lots of sky blues - we're not going along with blues/pinks - Cath Kidston print style!

At this stage we're thinking purple and green (Cadbury purple, green like dark green leaves), but it depends on a venue and that's all a bit up in the air at the minute. We may also incorporate Scottish elements (OH wants to wear a kilt) and/ or medieval elements (the ceremony we want was performed in pre-modern times). We both agree tone will be very formal (will be a winter wedding). Aware this could all get quite complicated and plan on doing a lot more ironing out when we have some details and bookings in place.
