When is it too early to send the main invitations out

Emma, 27 March, 2023 at 16:15 Posted on Planning 0 6
I don’t know if I’m overthinking about this. I get married this December. We sent the save the date cards out at the start of February. I was going to send the main invitations out at the start of July but now thinking of sending them out at the beginning of June, which would be 6 months before the wedding. We have put the rsvp date of the 1st October on the invitations which would give the guests around 4 months to get back to us. some advice would be appreciated. x

I'm getting married in august and sent my save the dates in feb!

i've just sent out my main invites now in march and my rsvp date is the end of may.

my thoughts were that well, i've given them plenty notice with the save the dates to book off from work and need an rsvp 3 months before the wedding as many coming from abroad. so if you're thinking June, its sounds good as it gives people 6 months to officially decide as like me you have already given them a save the date.

Thank you, I’m think I’m just worried that people will think I’ve sent them out too early and that people might lose the invite and won’t send the rsvp’s to us. Like I said I’m overthinking it. I might just do it and send them in June. Wedding planning is so overwhelming!

    Hi Emma!

I wouldn't worry too much about this, as you have already sent out the STD cards. Everyone close to you / intending to come to your wedding will have the date earmarked already.

Send them in July as planned, you'll be fine! You've given everyone plenty of time.

Thank you so much. This eases my panic a little. Your true in that the most important people already know the date. x

My wedding date is a week day in the school holidays, so I knew people needed plenty of notice. I sent my Save the Dates a year before and the main invites 6 months before.

I think it all depends on your wedding day/date and who you are inviting. One thing to note that whenever you send them, there will be some people who RSVP straight away and there will be people who you have to chase on the last week. It doesnt matter how much time you give them to RSVP, this always happens.
