Molly, 11 December, 2022 at 00:37 Posted on Etiquette and Advice 0 16
Hi everyone, just looking for peoples opinions on when is TOO early to start booking venues etc.? I want to plan a few years in advance but wasn’t sure what the limit for how far out is too far out!
Thanks😁

I booked my August 2024 wedding in July this year so just over two years in advance, I found a lot of places you could only book two years in advance as you can also only book a registrar two years in advance x

We booked our venue 3 years out. We haven't been able to book the legal stuff yet, but as soon as we can we will be.
When I was working in a hotel that done weddings we had our diary about 4 years in advance open, some people just really want certain dates! So each venue will be different!Just make sure if you do book it now for a few years out that the contract is very clear about if there will be any price rises and how those would be calculated x

Lots of people book their weddings 18 months - 2 years in advance so anything in that region is not “too early”. How in advance were you thinking?

I was hoping to pre-book 3-4 years in advance for the venue and then all other bookings 1-2years prior

You will probably be okay with a 2025 wedding. I know there is someone on here who has booked a 2026 wedding already but I don’t know many places that will book that far in advance, too much changes! We booked our March 2024 wedding in August 2022 and the venue was only taking bookings for 2023 and 2024

I’ve just booked my wedding for 10/24 they had the 2025 calendar open too. I think it will depend on your venue Smiley smile

I would start looking / booking now! Especially if you don’t know where it is that you are want and have a specific date you would like. We knew the venue and date we wanted right away so we didn’t even bother looking around others, although I did enquire just to get a feel for it! But my venue didn’t have the date we really wanted! A band we liked were also booked up for a lot of the dates. We booked ours in October this year for October 2024, we wanted September but I’m so happy with our date now! Xx

Check how far in advance your registrar will accept provisional bookings - you don't want to book a venue for 2026 and then find out that the registrar either won't accept provisional bookings or only accepts them a couple of years in advance. Because no registrar = no marriage!

We booked our July 2024 wedding in September this year so just under 2 years out! Found most weekend dates for our venue were already booked.

We booked our venue in May this year for our wedding in April 2025. I would say depends if the venue has the diary open for that year or not.

Most venues only take until end of 2024 at the moment. Personally, I wouldn’t book for 2025 yet. X

Me and my partner are getting married in May 2025 and we secured our venue earlier this month. Some venues didn’t have their calendars and pricing for 2025 but we fell in love with our venue and didn’t want to miss out as our date was so specific! Everything else is on hold but at least our venue is sorted, and we would have paid off over half of the cost by this time next year, giving us more time to save for all the other bits

According to my point of view, the planning should start a minimum of one and a half to two years ago because it is a very memorable time of life so we should start it's planning almost two years ago to make it more special and memorable so we could not forget this day the whole life.

We booked our August 2024 venue in August 2022. The venue was already booking up for that year!
