When to buy wedding dress / how to handle weight gain/ loss

I ordered my dress in October, they ordered it in the size that would fit the biggest bit of my body - it’s due to arrive in February, so I’ll go and try it on then, but no alterations till 8 weeks before the wedding, with a final try on 2/3 weeks before to make sure the alterations fit. If I lose weight then they will have time to make it smaller, so I wouldn’t worry too much! ☺️

I agree, always buy the largest size and never shop based on desired or target size. It’s so much easier to take a dress in than mess with a dress too small and you will look radiant no matter what your size if you love your dress and how it feels x

If you're planning to lose a load of weight, it's better to shop when you are closer to your desired weight - if it's just minor fluctuations, they can alter it no problem. But better to order larger and have it taken in - letting out dresses is much harder!

I'd start looking toward the end of the year, unless you think you'll take a long time to find what you want - dresses can take 6-8 months to arrive and you need to allow time for alterations on top of that.
