When to get wedding insurance

Mary, 11 December, 2020 at 21:01 Posted on Planning 2 4
Hi

At which point do you get wedding insurance?
We have just booked our venue for next August 2021 but with covid there are not many options around at the minute. If we wait a couple months for more insurers to offer is this ok? Apart from venue deposit we haven't bought/spent anything yet anyway. Thank you Mary

Honestly I don't think you will have a choice but wait. There is just no useful ones left on the market. But with your wedding being only 8 months away you might have to do completely without. Dont want to be a downer but doubt any will come back on market till spring earliest and even then unlikely will cover anything covid related or anything already booked before insurance.... its just too risky for insurers atm. Pay with credit card if you can for some security and read and negotiate all you terms and conditions well.....all anyone can do at this point tbh

I've found one on wedinsure that covers cost of wedding for around £100... It obviously doesn't cover covid but I know none will right now.
Is it worth getting this to cover most of the wedding points? I'm just think better to have some then none at all but not sure. Advice welcome. Xx

Well they got 18 one star reviews on Google. No positive ones at all, so doesn't sound like they are any good. But I don't know what policy they offered you, so you need to read the smallprint. And they might not cover your venue as booked pre insurance...... I think 100 is steap for no covid cover. I mean thats the most likely thing that will affect you. And who is to say they won't blame any other issue on covid and then not cover? In the end you got to decide if its worth it for you ....

As above, we don’t really have a choice but to wait.

Normally I’d buy it before making any purchases/deposits. It’s just not possible now. So everything is going on a credit card to provide extra protection.
