Where do i buy bridesmaids dresses?

Jade, 11 January, 2022 at 23:29 Posted on Wedding Attire 0 8

Hello there!

Where is it best to get bridesmaids dresses?

Is it better to buy them online or go to a shop with all the bridesmaids? I know this is probably down to personal choice but would love some opinions!

We have 3 bridesmaids from South West England and 3 from the North East (about 6 hours travelling distance!) They are happy to travel and stay with us but any idea what would be best in this situation?

You could order a load online and have a try on session when they are with you and maybe book appointments at a few shops locally to give you choice. It really depends on budget as well, as bridal boutiques are often priced at £150 upwards, which for me was way to much on one dress! That said, with 6 I guess you may want a couple of different styles on the same colour which from high street shops may not be possible. I got ours from Monsoon in the end as the style matched and was cheaper. Take a look at Monsoon, Coast, john Lewis, Next and Asos as they have a wide range. I do have a friend who got hers from JJ's House and they were really good quality and have a massive range of styles and colours so worth a look, their returns process is lengthy but as they do standard sizes now it is a lot more likely that they will be ok in terms of fit.

I’m taking my bridesmaids to wed 2 be to try them on as they’re really reasonably priced however you could just order multiple sizes for them online as sites like ASOS sell bridesmaid dresses too Smiley smile

    Hi,

Did your friend have to pay custom duties / import taxes when purchasing from JJ's House? I bought some dresses from them nearly 10 years ago, and I had to pay the duties / taxes then. But unsure if that's now changed

I would try somewhere like John Lewis as all your bridesmaids may have one close to them which may make trying on easier.

Stick to online shopping first—it’s way easier for your long-distance bridesmaids. They can pick styles and colors at home. Then have them all stay with you and do a quick fitting together. No need for 6-hour trips to separate shops, it saves so much hassle!
