Which venue to pick

Hannah, 19 September, 2022 at 15:50 Posted on Planning 0 3
Myself and Fiancé have been and viewed 2 wedding venues. We like both and are both aviavle on our preferred date. Venue 1 is more modern, a bit more money, has bigger dance floor and looks more aesthetically pleasing however this venue was dressed for a wedding when we viewed it. This venue doesn't have space for everyone to stay over at and the aisle is small to walk down though.
Venue 2 has plently of space for everyone to stau and suits people with different budgets too, the room we would get married in is bigger but the dance floor was slightly smaller and the room didn't look as nice but we qould have more money left to spend decorating this.

Would you go for venue 1 or 2?

I personally would go for venue two. I don't think a small dance floor is a bad thing as It looks fuller if not everyone gets up to dance. You've got to think, people may be outside smoking/chatting, at the bar or at the toilet so chances of everyone being on the dancefloor at once is pretty slim. With the extra money you could then just decorate the room however you want x

I agree with AJX, I’d go venue 2. My thoughts are it’s nice that it could be more flexible to your guests and also you can have a larger budget for a venue decorator/ DIY decoration. There is a good amount of flexility albeit the dance floor is slightly smaller. However, I don’t think I can say that at any wedding I have been to recently that the dance floor has been too squishy at any point. Not everyone will be dancing at the same time.

We had the same issue. Venue 1 was a barn in the countryside, with space for 16 people to stay over, it was absolutely gorgeous, but our guests couldn’t stay and would need to get taxis for about 5-10 miles to a hotel and it was about £3k more. Venue 2 was a hotel that looks a bit drab, more of a conference room style, however, close to London so easy to access, 100 hotel rooms at cheap prices so our guests can stay over and cheaper overall! I asked for pictures of venue 2 with wedding decorations and I was amazed at the potential for the venue. At first we loved venue 1 but when we thought about practicality we went for venue 2.
I hope my experience helps a little and that you have the best day when it comes to it xx

Devils advocate - are you completely set on either of these two? Is there any more you need to view?

Me and my OH was completely in love with two separate venues. After speaking to somebody, they urged me to keep looking at my original viewing list at the other venues despite the fact I already felt like I found ‘the one. As we both loved different ones we took the advice and went to view more. The one after was literally THE one. We both loved it and found no faults whatsoever. So if there is some more on your list still to view, it may be worth looking at those first? Even if you still remain to love the two you’ve mentioned, It may give you a clearer thought process too.. and you might be able to work out what features are more important for you both.
