White skirts and VPL

SophieM, 10 June, 2008 at 11:39 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 24

I've been looking for a whitye skirt for a while now (not a Sinenna Miller special, just a plainish white A-line or pencil skirt) and all the wines I've tried have been horrendous - never mind VPL, V everything ?

Does anyone have a solution? No one wears petticoats any more, right? ?

I got a lovely one last summer from Sainsburys of all places. I did the 'standing in front of light with legs open' test and it passed. It was lined.

?@ wines. Could that be the problem?!

I have an underskirt I wear with unlined pale skirts - just very occasionally for weddings etc. It does make me feel as though I am a little old lady when I put it on though ?

I think you should resurrect the petticoat. Fashun trends have to start somewhere, right?

Wines? How did I do that? ? Hmmm, Sainsbuggers?

Our old Indian takeaway sent us some as a gift before we moved, tastes like Cherryade ?

I have no shame about my flesh coloured pants ? I even have special invisible knickers from Sloggi. But you can still see them through stoopid transparent white skirts.

Hmm, in that case I would go down the petticoat route. Can you get cotton ones?

I remember my Mum making me wear horrible scratchy shiny ones when I was at school - bleaurgh!

Sunset - Will Carling legs?? You or me?? [wink]

I bought a white skirt last summer from H and M which wasn't transparent - but it was lined so maybe that made a bit of a difference. I wear it with some knickers from Marks and spencer underneath - the kind that apparently have "no VPL" - something like this http://www.marksandspencer.com/gp/product/B000YZ7NLK/sr=1-3/qid=1213096006/ref=sr_1_3/026-0401802-3881220?ie=UTF8&node=60021031&m=A2BO0OYVBKIQJM&keywords=&mnSBrand=core&size=9&rh=&page=

(sorry don't know how to do a short link)

If the skirt is reasonably flowing/ roomy, I'd go for a petticoat- in fact, the tiered net petticoat look is next spring's new look, appaaaaarrently.

Otherwise, I'd just go with the fact that it's see through but then, I am a bit shameless in that respect.

I bought a white cotton skirt in new look and that is lined and you can't see anything - not even bright pink pants. It's just got a cotton lining.

Did you buy it recently? The one I tried on today (working form home icon ?) was New Look and it was totally see-through.

Caterpillar - those pants are great, but wouldn't work with any of the ones I've tried.

I bought it about a month and a half ago - it's quite floaty and has some cut-work detail on the hem. [cold sweat of the thought of it really being see-through!]

The only thing I could think of is http://www.spanx.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2990094&cp=2992555.3010053&parentPage=family I know you don't need them for the slimming properties but a pair of spanxs should stop the VPL

Don't want to wear spanx in the summer <stropicon>

Maybe I need to set aside my white skirt dreams ?

I would be heading down the petticoat route for sure.

I have a white A-line skirt, which is lined and shows naff all through it. Seriously, I could wear luminous pants and no-one would be any the wiser. I bought it yonks ago, though, and can't remember where from. That was helpful, wasn't it? ?

Anyway, a see through skirt can be sexy........

    Remember that famous Diana photo?

It's not so sexy to show big granny grots off, but the shape of your legs, calves, thighs is very sexy..........
