Who should be asked to be a bridesmaid

Linda, 21 October, 2023 at 13:01 Posted on Etiquette and Advice 0 2
We are getting married in June 2025. We are a couple in our 50’s and both have grown up kids. I have asked my three best friends and goddaughter to be bridesmaids so it will be 4 in total. My OH has a granddaughter who will be 8 when we marry. Am I obligated to include her in the bridal party?

You are not obliged to have anyone in your wedding party - it's entirely up to you! If your husband-to-be thinks that his granddaughter might be upset not to be included, you could always find a small role for her - e.g. perhaps handing out orders of service. But not every small girl dreams of being a bridesmaid anyway - I had to be one for my cousin when I was about that age and hated every minute!!! So she might be happy just to be a guest.

Could the granddaughter be a flowergirl? It would be nice to include her in someway
