Who to pick for bridesmaids ?

I think you can have as many or few bridesmaids as you want, it’s your wedding! I have 5 bridesmaids and a flower girl. It was meant to be 6 but one is unsure if she can commit due to possibly moving away. Just pick the people that you want to support you and that you know will be there for you on the day x

Your wedding so you do you! Have as many or as little as you want. I would say 3-4 is a good number, you don't want to be stressed on the morning with everyone trying to get ready together, so also thin about how you want it to be non the day to keep you calm. it is easy to get caught up in the moment and I regret one of my BM picks now, as we got closer to the wedding our relationship changed and I have barely spoke to her since the wedding 9 months ago. If i did it again l would wait a bot longer to ask, see how people are with supporting your wedding and i would probably have had less BM's and choose my closest 2 friends. it is hard when you have a large group, but it is your day so please don't try to please others or worry about offending people. For me, to be invited to a wedding is an honors and even more so to be part of the bridal party. I would say for this one not to ask her, just have the other 3 that you are closer to.

I'm having 7 bridesmaids - including a MoH - and also my little sister is going to be flower girl and my little brother is page boy. I did think it was a bit excessive at first but I couldn't imagine getting married without having each one of them on my team, so i'm not going to reduce the numbers just because it sounds like a lot x

There is no legal limit! You can have as many as you can afford/want/will fit in with your wedding (i.e. if you are only having 20 guests, having half of them in the bridal party might be a bit odd!)

However, I would advise waiting a bit before inviting anyone. As PPs have said, relationships can change a lot, so I'd maybe wait until you are a year away from the wedding day before making up your mind.

Also, if you have a close-knit group of 4, then I think it's fine to invite them all, or just 1 or 2, but I would avoid inviting 3. It sounds as if you are slightly less close to one out of the 4, but it would be quite hurtful if she were the only one to be excluded.

I have 3 bridesmaids. Dresses were £80 each, I’m paying for their hair (also £80 each), shoes at £25 each, and then thank you gifts at approximately £30 each. I’ve asked them to do their own makeup, as that would have been another £50 each. So in total each bridesmaid is costing me over £200. There are ways to save money if you have lots (asking them to wear a dress of their own choice, own shoes etc) but it can still add up.

A cost I hadn’t considered was transport - because my bridal party is me, my mum, 3 bridesmaids and my best male friend (who is escorting my mum down the aisle), I’ve had to book a bigger car than if I had fewer people, so that’s something else to factor in.

I have got 11 bridesmaids and 4 flower girls 😂😂 it was a case of I either have all of my friends or only 1 or 2 and my thought process was that I want to have all the people I’m going to have the most fun with on my wedding morning ! All the girls are so special to me and I couldn’t do it without them. Budget is something to think about, but you can ask them to buy their own dresses, it’s not a crime !! If they want to stand by your side they shouldn’t be bothered, if I was a wedding guest I would spend money on hair, makeup and a new dress so I wouldn’t have any issues buying my dress if I was a bridesmaid for someone! Xxx
