Why can't you buy Lamb sandwiches? Or can you?

sherry, 5 November, 2008 at 21:51 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 8

I have seen beef, ham, turkey, chicken etc. However I was asked this question (at a rather strange time lol) but didn't know the answer.

Any ideas?

My guess is that you dont eat lamb cold, whereas the rest you do. Does the texture maybe change when cold? (not a lamb fan so never cooked/eaten it) Edited to add, I have eaten it, in a curry or Tikka at the Indian restaurant.

If I recall correctly both Pret and M&S have done them in the past but not with any regularity.

Perhaps they are just not that popular or it's a supply issue - I know you can get lamb year round but the price and quality vaires.

I assume its because it is quite expensive, thankfully there is a local sandwich shop that makes a warm lamb and mint sauce baguettes yum!

Cold lamb doesn't taste as good as some of the other meats - and it is expensive too.

? for the replies. I'm not a fan of lamb so didn't realise how expensive it could be.

I suspect it's because cold lamb can be very fatty, despite this I still happily chow down on leftover roast lamb sangers
