Will i be able to clear my head of Wedding thoughts?

Belle, 18 May, 2023 at 16:18 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hello,

I am very excited to be in the throes of wedding planning with my partner.

As usual, I've thought about this day for a long time and can't help my mind wondering and my eyes scrolling through online ideas. Thus, my productivity levels are low and my work quality is poor. My manager understands this but I'm annoying myself now as there's so much to think about and so many lists and boards to tinker with.

Has anyone got any mindfulness exercises or tips to share with me?

I've tried to get stuck into activities and hobbies but my attention span is short and my mind wonders, I'm worried i'll be sick of thinking about things by the end.

Many thanks x

A mindfulness exercise I've used to help clear my mind is: imagine the sun shining on the top of your head (even better if you can be in direct sunlight) and the light filling up your body like pouring liquid into a bottle. Starting at your toes and working slowly upwards as your body fills up with sunlight. You may find posture straightening up as you go. You only have to take a few minutes for it but it's helped quiet a busy mind by just picturing my body fill up like a bottle. It might help to clear your mind if you find yourself distracted at work. I would also recommend you write down what's on your mind before you start so you can give your brain permission to forget about it.

    Hi.

I don't have any advice about mindfulness.

I planned as much as I could at the beginning. As time goes by, the novelty wears off and you will come back down to Earth. Just get it out of your system and do as much as you can but not in your work time!

I can relate to your post. I would agree that it does settle down but also planning a wedding does mean you will have a lot of thoughts and lists until the day. Try to enjoy the process, allocate designated wedmin time that you can look foward to and instead of always browsing when you think of something, make a note so you can explore in your wedmin time to your heart's content. I have found doing sports and spending time with friends has helped distract me.
