Willie's Chocolate Cloud Cake, anyone made it? or Cake Experts

Mizz Pink, 12 January, 2009 at 10:08 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 4

Hi,

My friend made this yesterday and it was quite nice....sort of.

After she has taken it out the oven and let it cool, a layer of cloudy jelly appeared on the base of the cake. We werent sure if one of the ingrediants had seperated or if the cake was supposed to be like this.

It looked and tasted as if maybe the sugar had seperated maybe.

She followed the recipe to the letter and used the correct ingrediants.

Any thoughts?

?

Cloudy jelly??? It's an odd recipe - I can imagine it separating a bit dduring cooking, ie the heavier stuff sinking to the bottom, but not cloudy jelly ?, sorry.

I cant describe it any better than that, lol. It was exactly that, cloudy jelly, almost a wishy washy green colour.

Do you mean cloud forest cake? I have made it a couple of times and it's been delicious - just a dense, moist cake. Not liking the sound of the green jelly!!

Yes its cloud forest cake. It was moist and the texture was nice, just too bitter for me. I iwsh I had a photo to show you of the jelly.

Its obviously not supposed to be there then.

btw is it all the egg you use or just the white/yolk?
