Whats peoples thoughts on winter weddings?

I've looked at summer prices and they are extortionate, and I dont want to cut costs by having a less than perfect venue, so thought why not have my perfect venue but have it in winter!

Apart from the weather what else should I be worried about?

Thinking late November early December 2017. Or would January be a better option? I know xmas is stressfull enough without having a wedding to organise! I have bridesmaids who are teachers so I have to have a weekend wedding, so did think between xmas and new year - but decided against that as wasnt sure people would want to come to a wedding over the festive season!

I'm getting totally stressed about weddings and have only been planning for a month, anyone else having a winter wedding who can give some advice?

Thanks in advance

Id say go for it, but I'm biased!! We got married mid December and I LOVED our cosy, winter wedding, as did our guests. My sister got married in Feb, which is also lovely. Not sure if availability of certain flowers is a poss prob or not these days?! We had candelabras with greenery, berries and fir cones etc and roses for buttonholes and bouquets.

obv there's winter weather and guests getting to venue to consider. Does it snow often where you live? We had a gorgeous, dry, cold frosty day for our wedding and my sisters in Feb was quite warm and sunny.

Are you planning to have a honeymoon at all and if so, would you want it to be pretty much straight away? Worth considering weather abroad in certain destinations at that time of year. We stayed at home after wedding and enjoyed xmas and the looked forward to our Caribbean honeymoon in January, when dreary and bleak here!!

Love Winter weddings but also been to a gorgeous Autumn wedding in October.

I woulsnt say it snows any more often than anywhere else in the uk but when it snows it really snows lol we've had snow in march and april before.. so we are used to it causing chaos here ha. They do have a snow plough at my venue so will be prepared for that hopefully.

We probbaly wouldnt have a honeymoon till the following year once xmas is out of the way, the same as you, although to be honest i havent really thought much about the honeymoon

December weddings are just a pain imo. It can get expensive to be a guest so I'd avoid December and January when everyone is broke. I've only ever been to one winter wedding and didn't enjoy it tbh, it was so cold we couldn't explore the grounds so were stuck inside all day and it was a bit dark and depressing, we left early because didn't want the car to ice over. That's just me though, I hate winter!

I got married 16th November 2013 and would not have changed that for the world, it was cold yes, but we ended up with beautiful weather, some GORGEOUS autumn colours in the trees that had hung on for a bit longer and best of all, I didn't melt in my dress (well i did but that was the hotel heating in the room i was getting ready in). It turned out absolutely perfect!

The weather is the only thing I'm worried about, but having it in winter I am just expecting the worst so anything better will be a bonus! Going for very beginning of December so just the beginning of winter, and hopefully not too awful on the weather front.
