I'm wondering what your thoughts are on winter weddings compared to summer weddings?

We are planning on getting married next year but I cant decide between a summer or winter wedding. We are currently venue hunting, I'm sure this will play a huge deciding factor but I'm completely torn as I love the idea of both. Would it be greedy to have two?.

    Well......

Me and OH got a little ahead of ourselves (we have an appointment on Saturday) and decided to drive over to Coombe Abbey just to look from the outside.

We couldn't contain ourselves and popped in to ask for a brochure and a sneaky glance inside. They offered to get a porter to show us all the rooms there and then. I was so excited and the guy showing us around was brilliant. He has worked there for years, so knew the place inside and out and Gave us all the tips without the pushy hard sell.

We are both totally in love with it and it's well within budget. We both agree its more suited to a winter wedding. I love the feel of the building and I tend to lean towards the richer colours, candelabras and generally my deluded view of the whole princess for a day vision. OH is set on the idea of fireworks too so I'm hoping i may be able to do this as a surprise for him.

It's decided ......I'M GOING TO BE A WINTER BRIDE!! EEEK

Fantastic venue did you see the feature bed rooms and the one with a staircase up to your bathroom. And that chap I think I know the one - not very tall with a beard - looks like he just steped out of a movie set in the middle ages

    We're having a winter wedding - Len we're December 1st this year!

Me and OH both love winter and so December seemed perfect choice. I don't want to follow the Christmassy theme, but stick with winter theme. Just need to get cracking on ideas now though!

I wouldnt say I know it that well as I have only been there about 4 times over the years. Your American side will LOVE LOVE it, when ever I have been there I always hear American voices everywhere

    We went for Winter...

and I almost buckled as we thought about moving it forwards, but my lovely OH did what he does best and reminded me why we chose the date in the first place...

I don't like the thought of wearing a hot dress on a hot day, I will get red and hot, and feel dizzy

we both love the thought of twinkling Xmas lights as part of our décor.

We both want log fires burning, and maybe mulled wine

summer is hard as someones bound to be away, in both our families we're much more likely to get everyone together over the build up to Christmas

and, it fits beautifully with our first date anniversary.

We talked about getting married on our first date, all very jokingly, neither of us really having a clue we'd end up doing what we said..and marrying before our 3rd anniversary , the Saturday before to be exact!
