Woodland venues

ExpensiveIvoryDiamonds634, 16 September, 2016 at 20:30 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hi! I've got a dream of getting married in some woodlands, and then going to a reception maybe in a converted barn or somewhere with shelter, electricity etc! So we are all warm and dry should the weather turn.

I'd like something where we can just cater for ourselves, but everywhere I've found so far is an awful lot of money and a lot insist you go with their catering.

We fell in love with Keeper And The Dell but can't afford it until 2019, which is when their prices go up that bit more than we had originally thought.

I have a budget of roughly 5500 for the day. Does anybody have any suggestions?

Many Thanks! Sarah x

You may need to think slightly differently.....instead of looking for a woodland venue, as you are planning to go somewhere else for the reception,Mehta dont you look for someone with woodland who would be happy to rent you the use of their land.

As the land probably wouldn't be licensed,my out would need to consider a celebrant-led ceremony rather than a registrar but it would open up where to have the ceremony and could save you thousands of pounds.

look at campsites and farms who have attached woodland and want to earn some extra cash.

When you say you want to cater for yourselves, do you mean you want to literally prepare the food yourselves beforehand and take it to the venue, or that you want to choose a catering company that works for you rather than having the catering provided by the venue?

Not sure where in the UK you are looking, but if in the London area, Cuffley Camp might fit the bill - I spent many a happy childhood week there & they do weddings there - if we hadn't moved from the area this would have been my #1 choice:

Escrick Park have a woodland bit that you can hire but I'm not sure if it's licenced, most woodlands can't be as there had to be a fixed structure by law for you to marry in it. We were looking for that kind of venue too with the same kind of budget, we're coming in slightly over budget at the moment and are desperately trying to get it back down somehow. There is also Catton hall but they aren't licenced to have a legal wedding.

    This link might be helpful.

    and also this link: http://festivalbrides.co.uk/venuesland-hire/

I love woodland weddings and some venues are licensed too.

You may be able to save money looking for a non-wedding venue e.g. a campsite it it would be a lot of work to manage all the different suppliers and costly too.
