Worried/anxious to book my wedding

Amy, 27 August, 2021 at 19:28 Posted on Planning 0 7
Hi my boyfriend proposed to me at a festival a couple of weeks ago and we are planning on booking our wedding in February 2022 for August 2022 if that’s possible, if not, then it will be booked for August 2023. I’m just so worried about booking everything then we have more covid restrictions and lockdowns. My dream wedding was a destination wedding abroad but we are thinking it would be easier having it here due to the green amber and red list countries. I’m worried booking the wedding in a certain country then due to rules not being able to go there.
Anyone else’s wedding booked for 2022 or 2023? X

I personally waited another year and we are getting married in 2023. I did find that a lot of places are fully booked as they have such a huge log due to covid. If you are looking at next year, I'd book to see a few venues ASAP!

We’ve decided on a venue and I’ve contacted them about a price and what’s included and they have the date we want for next year (upto now) but it’s whether suppliers that we choose have availability for that date. As I said, we aren’t booking it until February and really want to get married in the August so we’d only have 6 months to plan it all. Has anyone planned their wedding within this time? Would I be able to get my dress in that much of a short time? I know what style I want, I absolutely love the Enzoani dresses, they’re stunning! Just don’t know what to do xxx

We got engaged in Nov 2020 but decided to wait until 2022 for the big day. We booked the venue ( catering included) in April this year and have also booked DJ, cake, flowers, photographer so far as suppliers were getting booked up due to many Covid rearrangements. If you want UK and next year then I would defo start going to look at venues.

You may struggle booking in February for an august wedding. I’m thinking the main problem is availability. Loads of weddings were postponed from this year and last so all wedding suppliers are swamped.
If you’ve found a venue and it has the date free, I’d book it and then get in touch with suppliers now too. If you do want an abroad wedding then don’t let COVID stop you. My friend got married abroad this July so even with all COVID stuff it still went ahead. The only thing with a destination wedding is giving the guests plenty of notice due to expense of them attending etc. So if you do go abroad, I’d say book for 2023.

I booked and planned my whole wedding in 4 months so it is possible. I did have to get a dresss off the rail as they say allow 6-9 months for ordering in and adjustments etc. So if you have a dream dress, maybe start browsing now and ordering it sooner rather than later. I did find some suppliers I really wanted were already booked up. August is a VERY popular wedding month so if planning on August, it’s better to get in now.

Is there any reason you need to delay till February? It is possible to arrange a wedding in just a few months, or even weeks, but you may have to compromise on some things that you would like, so if you already know you want to get married in August next year, I'd book asap.

We got engaged Christmas 2020 and we had the venue booked for April 2023, 10 days later. Due to all the postponements from Covid, venues are quickly getting booked up and some are waiting until all their Covid cancelled weddings are re-booked before taking on new bookings too.

My suggestion would be to pick a date and then get the venue you like booked ASAP to ensure you get the date you want. Your registrar can be booked 2 years in advance, if you're not having a church wedding, and delaying this booking could also mean not having a registrar available.

We booked our wedding for 2023 as nearly everyone who's going to be vaccinated will be done by then and hopefully it's enough time for the vaccine to have started controlling the infection rate and lockdown won't be needed anymore, well, hopefully.
