Would you ask a bridal shop to price match?

leni, 17 February, 2009 at 09:25 Posted on Planning 0 4

I think I've found the dress and emailed lots of other bridal shops to ask the price of the dress. One about 30 miles away came back £125 cheaper. Now I don't mind going this 30 miles but would you be cheeky and ask the original shop to price match?

    Personally I don't think I would.

I found my dress and contacted another shop for price (but mainly because I hated the service in the other shop)

My dress was £266 cheaper in the second shop! The 2 shops are 32 miles apart, but i live somewhere in the middle. (nearer to the 2nd one though) The service I got in the 2nd shop was so much better though, I think I would have got it from there even if it was the same price.

    Yes, definitely!

We did a similar thing with our suit hire... We preferred the service at one shop and wanted to give them our custom, but the suits were about £40 more expensive each, so we asked them if they could maybe meet us halfway and they did - they knocked £20 off each suit.

It's always worth asking, they can only say no!

I'd ask if its the exact same dress. They can only say no really, can't they? x

If you don't ask, you don't get!

My friend got married a couple of years ago and found her dress in one shop but didn't like them, went to another and it was £100 more expensive. She asked the lady, and she price matched it for her. There is no harm in asking.

I did! i had tried some dresses on in shop 1, but not The Dress. shop 1 was lovely, very helpful and close to work. i then found it in shop 2, where they were doing a special offer on that particular dress. shop 2's customer service was even better, but much further from work. emailed shop 1 to see what they could do, and they matched the price, but not the alterations, and didn't seem overly helpful anymore. so although shop 1 did price match (by reducing the price by £150) i still thought shop 2 offered the best all round service, and despite it being a bit of a logistical nightmare, went with them.
