Would you buy a wedding ring off ebay?

15 November, 2010 at 14:01 Posted on Planning 0 11

Following on from my 'I NEED diamonds' post, thanks to the lovely RaeF, I have been looking online.

Would you order from an ebay seller that is a jewlery shop? They have 100% positive feedback of over 2000 but the rings seem very cheap. I have just emailed them for the colour and clarity of the diamond.

They offer a full refund on all items even if not faulty.

    Which seller is it?

If it's No1RockAvenue then I bought from them and would thoroughly recommend them.

Other one I looked at was Elma Jewellery which has over 8,000 positive feedbacks (100%).

Remember that a lot self certify the stones, so may not be as strict grading them.

I don't think there is anything wrong with buying from ebay, I'd just have a hunt around online first and the jewellery quarter. I don't think the prices on ebay are much cheaper if at all than at the jewellery quarter. What about blue nile?

There was a debate post on this before - I think I went with No at that point.

BUT, as long as it was returnable once i'd tried it on, I probably would risk it now. You could pop it along to a valuers too to make sure it was well made etc and if not return it?

If the seller didn't do returns, it would be a nono for me i'm afraid.

I would definitely do this before deciding to keep it.

No, no horror stories here. I looked for you earlier and checked their feedback, I think it was something like 8,600 and only 1 negative (which you'd probably get the same if people rated shops?!).

I actually found the online shops much cheaper (although I didn't go to B'ham, travel costs would have negated any saving!), and the choice much better. Though when I looked, it was July '09 and jewellery shops had only a small selection of palladium.

Both of our rings will probably be coming from Elma jewellery on EBay - other half's for definite and hopefully mine. I feel quite confident, as like someone else said they have brilliant feedback, they're a power seller and offer a refund/exchange if you're not happy. My only worry with getting mine is that I need a specific fit so that the wedding band sits right with my square engagement ring - but hopefully if I email them before buying they should be ok with me returning maybe more than one ring. I've worked out that I can save about £200 on mine alone!

Hmmmm, I'm sure. I'd only part with my money if I can physically see it, touch it and it comes with done sort of guarantee. We plan to get our wedding bands from cash converters. Browse the website, they have some pretty good prices.
