The style of dress I seem to like are iro £1200, which is a LOT of money in my books! However I have been in pre-loved tonight and seen a couple that I like at half the price!! I think Im swaying towards getting a pre-loved dress? IT doesn't bother me either, I thought it would but it doesn't. The thought of spending £1000 plus on a dress never sat right with me, nore did spending £10k plus on a day, not that we will be anyway, but 10k seems frugal in todays terms.

I get the gown I want at a fraction of the price!

What are your views> Has anyone bought a second hand gown and was it as you expected, did the transaction etc go smoothly?

Thanks

Bought my dress from ebay £99 Trudy Lee 48403, only ever been tried on, Price tag £885 is still on the dress. I did have a couple of 'what have I done' before it arrived but had the 'wow' when I opened the box. Best thing I ever did, now means I have money for other things and the alterations are only going to be £50-£100.

Well my second hand dress arrived on monday and I could not be more pleased (as you can see from my new avater)

I got it from preloved and it was a lovely experience. The B2B who sold it to me was the nicest person and truly provided me with my happy ever after dress so that I could feel like a princess. The dress is spotless and as perfect as if it had just come out of a wrapper. If you are thinking about it I can highly recommend going this route - have a look on there and give it a try ?

Only thing left is to find the amazing Benjamin Adams shoes I want and I will have a non stop smile til June!

I also got my dress from preloved - id seen tried it on in a shop a few weeks before and loved it, but it was too pricey. On preloved it was about half the price, and the lady who I bought it from was lovely. She got married about a year before and was now expecting, so it was nice to know that they had some extra money to spend on the baby. It was already dry-cleaned, but as it had been stored away it is a little creased, but that was to be expected ?

Well after all the support out there for pre-loved dresses, I went an bought one, it is GORGOUS!! It fits perfectly but I need to have it taken up a few inches.

    I defo recommend it!

And Leedsgurl, as you mentioned about the month going towards a good cause (their new baby) the couple I bought my dress from were saving up for a deposit for a house :-)

Mine is!! I wouldn't say we have a small budget of about £16,000, but I always love a bargain. Second hand just means you get to wear an even better dress than a 'must-be-new-snob' with the same budget. I found my dress on pre-loved after falling in love with it in the shop. But refusing to pay £3000 for it.

I got my little sister (lives in london) to meet the lady at her office in Covent Garden. My sis got to check the dress once over, and she paid cash so both me and the seller were safe from scams and non-payment.

All wedding dresses are worn for such a short time, it's so sad to write them off at the end of the day.

I also got my two flowergirls' dresses from a charity shop. They are ivory butterfly BHS ones and still on sale for £56 in the shop. They were £7.50 each Smiley laugh and in the right sizes.

So many bargains to be had out there. And I know I will enjoy the day more because of the hard-work, research, website trawling and hand-made bits of my wedding. I really enjoy the challenge of finding second hand bits and hand-making things. But you have to start early mind. I couldn't do it last minute. I'd be panicking!

I have to say I have received nothing but admiration when I tell people about my 'creative buying.'
